well first of all trance has mentioned her age tons of times
there was an age thread after all
and second of all anyone who thought my comment about rape was serious...needs to get a good night's sleep
by mentioning burkas right after that I was trying to imply that my post was a criticism of middle-eastern cultures that believe such rubbish about women
seriously guys
also did anyone read the rest of the post, it was pretty important

We were too distracted by the stupid fucking comment.
ps, and, again, even as a joke it is a stupid fucking comment.
pps, explaining the joke kills it.
ppps, burqa, isn't it? Though I think burka is an accepted spelling, though it's also another kind of dress too (Turkish? Somewhere in the Caucas region anyway).
pppps, LIEK WHOA 4 Ps
I'll have to disagree on that. Partially, at least. It is a pretty blanket accusation that AP/Honor students are "HUM DRUM BORING DIRECTIONLESS" people. Whilst I do agree that there's quite a few in there, the same can be said in general. It's not like taking normal classes makes you a better person. Sorry, the "LOL SMART" kids can have dreams and aspirations too.
Though, it is true that most AP/Honor (honestly, I'd just say whomever got stuck with the Talented and Gifted program) tend to be good at doing the work but terrible at application of it. Great, you know how to solve a double integral AWESOME YOU. Now tell me the rate of change of two cylinders with a loop (i.e., leaves cylinder A to B at X and leaves B to A at Y). HUH WHAT. It's more prevalent in the later subjects (i.e., non-Calculus Math, non-Newtonian Physics, fucking Thermo) where the theory behind what you do is ... well, that's it. There's no real "math" (numbers crunching, formulas) and the distinction between "Science" and "Math" becomes obvious. Also, you get to learn Greek YAY. Fuck.
I will agree that there's way too many people taking them (and things like NHS, Leadership, and other "GOOD FOR COLLEGE" groups) for the sole purpose of making their college app look better. That said, what the fuck ... getting into a good (non-private) college isn't hard. And if you want to get into a good private college, then you better fucking work hard. I got into Caltech* with a bad GPR (I did literally nothing for 2 years and still managed to be top10% of class; thanks AP classes for easy As and higher GPA) but good SAT/ACT scores and essay writing.
*Turned it down for Texas A&M due to, even with Caltech fronting ~$16,000, I would still have to pay ~$15,000 a year. I'm glad I went to A&M as being around gigantic nerds all year would probably have made me hang myself.
To be quite honest, I don't think these matter all that much for admission ... so, whatever. But, ultimately, I think it's a pretty bad blanket accusation. There's a lot of people in a High School that have no semblance of themselves or what they plan to do. That is pretty much what HIGH SCHOOL IS.
As an aside, if your school doesn't have a Talented and Gifted (or Gifted and Talented) program then well, that's a little weird. Anyway, the TAG program where I went to High School (and was a part of), was originally part of the "Special Education" branch. Sure, the TAG program was filled with smarter-than-average students but we were pretty much overthinkers and the vast majority did have the issue of merely knowing "how to do" and not "how to use."
In HS, we were forced to take all the AP classes (and even had our own special AP TAG English/History, for reasons I'm still not really certain of) so most of the AP classes were indeed filled with these people ... people labelled smarter than everyone else their entire life and given the harder classes as part of their normal curriculum to better themselves for College. A lot of these students were pretty much just "here you go" and given the fast track to the "prepare for college!" plan. For this group, I'd hesitate to disagree with you that we're a directionless bunch but, really, I'd say we're just about as directionless as anyone else ... but expected otherwise since WE'RE SPECIAL RIGHT?!
I'll admit that, yeah, I have no real care or concern of my future. Never have, never will (probably). Hell, I'm rounding out a degree right now that will probably mean nothing and only doing so so I can actually GET that degree. I'm lazy and have no ambition (though there is a part of me that wishes to have the capital to start a bar). Whilst I was in the TAG program and forced into the AP curriculum more-or-less, I opted for all AP and going out of my way for some things merely to try to get something remotely challenging. That and we had this dumb AP classes were on a like 18.0 scale instead of 14.0. 16.0 instead of 14.0? I forget. If you wanted a good GPR, you had to do AP at my school. I think I was borderline top-10% with a 14.0+. Dumb.
The TAG program, though, did have a perk I guess: since this bunch was pretty much the "naturally awesome" crowd, it wasn't really filled with the nerdy kids. There were a few yeah (HI) but we had a pretty big spread there. Hell, I was on the football team and all AP; had our HS' star pitcher, our star Tennis doubles, etc. It was a diverse group of people.
SUPER tl;dr: Taking AP/Honors doesn't automatically make you some boring, lifeless, directionless person. It's more of a case-by-case thing.

I think I jumped around a lot and blah blah don't care I'm nearly late for class and wanted to pull out a quick reply.
