XD Nooo...

Moon is played with 4 people in two teams, partners sit diagonal across the table, and a FULL set of double-six dominoes, no blanks removed.

Minimum bid is 4, highest bid is 7 or you can shoot the moon for either 21/210 points.

Cousin variant is scored with the winning bid x 10 + remainder (ex. Bid 4, catch 6, total score = 42. Opposing team gets 1 point for the 1 they caught. Getting set results in a negative, plus the remainder: bid 5, catch 4 = -46 for the score) ... original scoring is just 1 point for each caught, the opposing team scores nothing unless they set the bidding team.

Never heard of this 42 variant.

You remove the blanks? Do you not have trumps or something?

The meaning of Easter is forever distorted. My predictions for what will happen to me go like this:

1) Get a lot of chocolate from people.
2) Eat too much chocolate at once.
3) Become crazy hyper and overly amorous.
4) Pass out after the high runs out.
5) Wake up like 15 hours later to find myself wearing my bells and bunny band.

Life is osm.

Moon is, traditionally, 3 players, 22 dominos (blanks removed, sans double). Trump calls are still in effect, bids are 4-7, and scoring is by hands won. It is a variant of 42 (Texas 42 for the full name).

The 4 player Moon is a variant of Moon with minimum bid of 3 and no negative scoring, if I recall (you bid 5, make 4, your net score is +1), though I suppose the minimum bid and scoring is down to the players (when we play Moon, our minimum bid is 5 but that's mostly due to it is pretty much impossible to not make a 4 bid so why bother having it as an option >>).

ps, google it if you want. Moon is and has always been a variant of 42 and is a 3 (or 4) person game, with the 4-person being a variation of Moon (full set).

I'll trust you, but this variant of Moon is what everyone in my family knows and plays. Maybe we made it up or something.

Our version of 4 player Moon, like I said, has a minimum of 4 bid, blanks, trumps called by the winning bidder (also, "Follow Me" which is no trump, highest domino only, or doubles AS trump if you wish) It features negative scoring when the team fails to meet their bid.

Strange. I wonder why it is we play this version. Maybe this year at Easter I'll ask some of the older relatives about it...

The 4 man variation is pretty much what you outlined, though I remember learning of that one without negative scoring (i.e., bidding 5, making 4 nets 1 point). Personally, negative scoring is a must as I'd just bid and accept a small net gain over letting the opponent win a bid and call trump. I'd wager that aspect and the minimum bid is just something left to the discretion of the players (seriously, minimum bid of 3 just sounds stupid; anything sub-5 is just not that big of a deal personally~).

Totally pushing this off topic (sorry!)

I watched the latest House M.D. episode today (not yesterday since my dad does overtime Mon. and we DVR the show so we can watch it together).
I'm miffed! They killed off my favorite character!

>_< I loved Kutner! Still... I love the drama it has caused among the rest of the team. Seeing Toab cry at the end was... remarkable.

But, seriously... Shore, STOP KILLING OFF CHARACTERS!! I'm still not over Cut-Throat Bitch. Doing it this close together just seems like you're TRYING to drum up the audience. Which ultimately only equals death for a show.

Uhh... BTW... isn't this a little obsessive? http://www.fox.com/kutner/
Even for me, as much as I loved the character.
For what it's worth (HOUSE s5e20)
His death is pretty much due to Kal Penn stepping out of acting to be an AD of Public Liasion for Obama.

I pegged Kutner dying for the season finale since he's the only doctor that didn't suck this season (outside of 13 eye-candy~ shut up I'm a guy and she's smoking hot in HD). Still sad to see him go as he's my favorite aside from House (and the PI from earlier in Season 5. He was hilarious).
I have nothing to add, I just wanted to feel included.

I've been watching Law & Order. Love it. <3 So much love. My fiance HATES Law & Order almost as much as I love it XD

And tonight is LOST night. <3 We're hopefully getting caught up. We're about 3 behind.

Lazy day today otherwise. I need to clean the bathroom and... something else. I forgot what my other chore was supposed to be o_o We need to clean house desperately, so we started splitting the chores.

Yay! Went shopping today! I bought Blood of the Fold and Soul of the Fire. No, I didn't forget Temple of Winds... :( they didn't have it. I asked them to order it for me. But ^_^ this way when it comes in, I won't have to worry about OMG I DON'T HAVE THE NEXT BOOK! >_<

I also bought a new PS2 controller. My cat has a habit of chewing through electric cords and... ours has been nibbled on. So, when my PS2 controller stopped rumbling for the past few months I assumed she must have broke it in some way - though it was still functional.

:( It's still not rumbling. *sigh* Went surfing and found that there's the potential for a fuse to be blown in the PS2 that would cause this. -_-; Looks like me and my dad will have to get together some weekend and try to fix it. *sigh*

OR... I can go with Option B) I'm getting $300 back from taxes.

I've been debating what to do with it. This includes getting a Wii or a PS3. PS3 plays PS2 games, right?

But, I dunno... I just have a lot of other things I could save that money up for... :\

Newer PS3s are not backwards compatible at all. The MGS4 bundle had software BC but that fails on certain games (doesn't play AT2 at all, Persona 4 has a weird blur effect and the location in the bottom left doesn't appear at all, etc.).

New PS2s are now like $100 though so ... yeah.
