Lysie, have you listened to the Arrogant Worms any?
oo come back proud canadians
before you had tv
no hockey night in canada
there was no cbc
in 1812 madison was mad
he was the president, you know
but he thought he tell the british where they ought to go
he thougth he'd invade canada
he thought that he was tough
instead he went to washington
and burned down all his stuff
and the whitehouse burned burned burned
and we're the ones that did it
it burned burned burned
while the president ran and cried
it burned burned burned
and things were very historical
and the americans ran and cried like a bunch of little babies
wa wa waaaa
in the war of 1812

Meh. I'd like a Fire Emblem game where you just make one unit and go from there, and have it play like Dofus so the battles are fast. If I wanted to play online I'd play Shadow Dragon. :]

Extremes like what? Swordmasters have innate higher Crit% (with higher Crit Damage), lower STR and DEF growths, lighter weapons v better STR and DEF growths, Axe usage, and heavy weapons. If that's really a complaint, than the casters play identical except with a weapon type swap as well (or the fliers).
Though, technically, they are "clones" in the sense of both being physical units without any extra perks (ranged attacks, movement), just one is beefier than the other. This is the case with a lot of the classes though.
As far as I'm concerned, class isn't as important as good stat growth in Fire Emblem (barring personal preference fuck you I'm never getting rid of my Pegasus/Falcon Knights). Well, that and mobility usually.
Always found Heroes lacking something to compare to the anomaly Swordmasters in the series (what the fuck to all the near STR capped Swordmasters?) though. What the fuck is the point of a higher base Damage Hero if I can double turn you with a 30-40% Crit and do about the same damage over the two hits without critting?
Hero is definitely a better physical answer to beefy physicals (Generalol) though ... but who doesn't just blow them the fuck up with casters.
They were much more defined with the GBA era. :[ Higher crit bonus but the Swordmasters were much squishier. They really took a hit with high enemy defenses less they have the proper sword. I guess a good comparison is Ike FE 9 (who is quite literally a mercenary, then a lord with hero-like stats) and the Swordmaster, sans their Occult skills. Heroes hit hard and they're tough. The "above average, but no striking weaknesses" class, except for the usual bad resistance. Swordmaster rely heavily on striking down with high crit, which defines their place completely since then they are better at attacking than defending. I found in Shadow Dragon, their ability to attack wasn't reliable enough unless you do a class swap mage and use a magic sword. Unless I've been having terrible luck with growths.
