Accurate is a bigger/"fancier" word than correct ... it's not surprising.
In the sense that stupid people never surprise me. But if it weren't for stupid people I'd be sad and bored.
I will say this though, the two words aren't really interchangeable like that. I honestly wouldn't use accurate here as it just sounds awkward (and honestly, correct fits better).
Also, inb4lolosynonymwikipediaarticle
I will note this though:
"Okay, if you the screen is accurate, your total is..."
Did you call them a screen? wut?

Damn, I should've said inb4webster.
As for the difference, it's more of a connotation one than literal meaning.
Also in the sense of "How many did you get correct?" vs "How many did you get accurate?"
Or, "How accurate are the measurements?" vs "How correct are the measurements?"
"Is this correct?" vs "Is this accurate?" both work, yes.
I also say this as an Engineer where the first thing that came in my head when I read "accurate" there was accuracy in measurements (also, oddly, Darts. I miss playing darts apparently). And then chance-to-hit since I've been answering EO2 questions recently. Dumb.
Moral of the story: There isn't one, I'm just bored. Packed up most my shit so ... yeah. Boredom.
Hmm, I thought about mentioning this when Scy made his first comment about interchangeability of "correct" and "accurate", but deemed it too nitpicky. Now, it seems the definition at Dictionary.com includes it, so I shall bring it up:
I'm not a fan of interchanging "precise" and "accurate". Precision and accuracy are distinct concepts, and although often related in use, they should not be treated as equivalent. The quoted definition disappoints me.
</nerd>
Edit: I should add, returning to the original issue, that I consider "correct" to be the more appropriate word in the given context, Maxine.

Precision and accuracy are indeed distinct concepts... In a scientific sense. Colloquially, precision and accuracy are very similar and it is very easy to get the two mixed up and assume they are interchangeable, when they are most certainly not. To say something is precise, even in a colloquial context, is not necessarily saying it is accurate, though it may also be accurate. Language works in interesting ways.

^_^; It still doesn't help that for me I use "accurate" instead of "correct". I have to make a valiant effort and watch my tongue when I'm giving the message on speaker.
Doesn't help when half the time I'm doing three things at once and I just quickly say whatever jumps to my mouth when we are in a rush. I'm usually taking money, taking the order, and pressing buttons on TWO screens (one screen is for the current order and the other screen is for taking the money/editting some idiots order who says "oh wait, can you add a coke on to that?"). Which can get pretty interesting since I'm often having conversations with two different people in addition to this.
-_-; So, what jumps to my mouth is what gets said. He's lucky I'm saying the damn message at all since I'd rather just spit the total out at them and be done with it so I can go back to the moron at my window who is all like "WHY IS IT $25?!"
~_^ I'm one of the best back drive people in the store because I can multitask so wonderfully and keep the drive moving (and all with a smile~). >_> It sucks since I hate back drive so much but Paul loves me back there as opposed to any other person in the store.
But yeah, I never noticed until yesterday that I use "accurate" instead of "correct" as one of my strange speech idiosyncrasies.

^_^; I do it with a smile. I promise. I'm one of those people that will make you feel very good. I amaze some of my co-workers since I keep smiling even with someone yelling at me... 9 out of 10 times anyways...
I'm not calling the specific person that does this an idiot. I call ALL customers idiots. >_> It's one of my stress-relievers. I've got to rage against my job in some way. x_x Customers suck. WHY don't they just go home and COOK for a change? Of course there in lies the conundrum. Jan sales (as always) are so bad that our hours are getting cut back. T-T Now I'm all like "WHERE ARE YOU CUSTOMERS?! MAY ALL YOUR BLOODY STOVES BREAK!"
Still... GRRRRRR it goes against me whenever I zero something off. <_< If I get too many removals and edits I get yelled at and accused of being a sloppy order taker. Right now, the fur is flying on that one, too.
PLEASE do your order taker a favor and make sure you KNOW what you want BEFORE you speak. I hate the stupid parents with a car full of children who are all like "I want 10 doubles... no wait... make that 6 doubles and 4 mcchickens... no wait... 4 mcc and 6 doubles.... make three without onions and four without onions - oh no wait!" <--- DIE DIE DIE DIE DIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIE!! I know I'm fucked when I suddenly get the error-lock message that tells me to get my manager because I am fixing things so much that the lock the owner put in place has been triggered.
Apple, I wish ALL people felt guilty like you do. Most customers don't give a shit.
