I was mostly referring to Cloud in addition to Link since they both lack a good story and real personality, sans Link in Wind Waker. The Halo guy ("Master Chief") lasts long but his power diminishes each year. :] I like to watch the character battles to see how far the characters I like make it, not to see if they survive until the end. Having appreciation for characters who aren't "badass" or favoured by a mainstream audience is a good thing.
At least to me.
