How much is it to send it in for repair? I have no idea what Sony's customer service is. I just know that Nintendo has always been fantastic to me about replacing shit.

I think I ultimately want a PS3, but really can't justify it. I barely play console games.

Time to explain my deal );<

Over spring break (last weak) I decided the time had come to turn my lazy ass around and start excelling in my freshman English class. I did all of the work, and got a ton of good sources for my research assignment (on habitat destruction in China in the 20th century).

I showed up to class today --or last night, it's in the wee hours of the morning now-- a little late due to an issue with having a parking decal, but still in time for role. About halfway (TWO HOURS) into class, we turn in some of the homework we had been discussing. As I approached the professor's desk, he casually began:

"Oh, Mr. Travis. Because you didn't turn in [important thing] on time, and didn't turn in [some less important things] at all, you have sunk into an F at a point where you will not be able to pass my class in time. I'm sorry, there's nothing you or I can do. Thank you for participating in class discussions. Have a good night."

My parents are appalled, but not surprised, given my track record. They are weary of holding my hand, but may take away my computer. This has been done many times and has had no effect on my performance in class, I'd just divert my attention to something else and try to get over how much I miss some internet friends I love. Much of what I am even saying right now I owe to great friends who give good advice and help me organize my thoughts. Crying alone in the parking lot didn't help, but at least it felt good. Anyway, I am trying to talk them out of it.

In school, I listened to everything they taught us.

I learned how to think like a scientist. I learned how to think like a romantic poet.

But I never learned how to be a student.

A couple times, I had my room stripped. No computer, no games, no TV, they even occasionally got on me about reading novels too much. Any sort of escapism was frowned upon unless it was productive. I would spend much time walking around and thinking.

But I never arrived on a thought that gave me the passion or discipline or self-control needed to be a functioning member of society. Not through my own introspection, and not through almost two years of psychotherapy (though a lot of good did come from that).

There were parts of my childhood that were rough and damaging, but my parents at least spoiled me. My young mind never accepted the idea that most apparently do: sometimes you have to do shit you hate.

That's why I struggled in my early years of school. Not because I didn't get the concepts; I always did. I just hated coming home after learning them and then reading boring directions and information just so I could scribble down junk that demonstrated what I already knew. I could easily be reading about a new dinosaur, or beating Super Mario World again.

Even though I'm only 18, I feel like I am on an airplane quickly reaching the point where it needs to get airborne or fall into the ocean and drift in stagnation. Do I even have time to dwell on my problems? I have a friend from New York who is 17, but is in his second year of university in Tokyo. He doesn't know who he is, and he doesn't know a lot about the world or people, but he at least has a future.

I don't know self-discipline. I don't know how to not roll out of bed and hide in the internet, or video games, or anime, or a book.

It's like I don't know how to breathe.

Well i am not sure if i understand but your basically saying you were being really lazy in English and thought it was about time to change pace since your grades weren't exactly great, when you did begin to actually work your teacher just suddenly said your failing and there's no way to remedy this.

So.. because of this you believe you lack the self-discipline because even though you understand these simple task's you choose to not do them since they would require effort.

Anyway if this ^ is the problem then i too suffer from the same curse <.< but i can tell you this. It is not a lack of self-discipline you just feel that this is not worth your time since it's basically well thoughtless labor, that is if we think the same....XD instead of dwelling on the problem remind yourself of the consequences if you were to continue ignoring the work and trying to pull a miracle at the last second. I know how that doesn't work from experience, but anyway your a respectable member of society just like everyone else i don't care what some psychiatrist says >:3

I wish I had some sage advice for you, Noodles, but alas, I'm 33 and still stuck at that same point..
