Sooooo, looks like I might not have to go to work Friday when the hurricane hits.

They've evacuated the Outer Banks (which are about 90 minutes southeast of here), and we're under a "Tropical Storm warning" with a "Hurricane watch" for the moment. It's still iffy as to how close to us the hurricane is going to pass, so that's exciting. Looks pretty certain that parts of the city are going to experience some flooding.

In case we lose power, Mr Kino and I fought the crowds to grab a water container and some extra canned food. We have candles and a first aid kit, so I figure we're fairly stocked in case the power and such go out.

But I'm predicting crazy rain/wind on Friday but no real damage.

Or it'll wildly swing eastward and we all die.

You know.

You do know I control such things as weather, right? Which way do you want it to go?

But Maxine, as far as I've always known, those are can openers, as it achieves the purpose of opening cans.

No Maxine, that's a can opener. What you're talking about is an electric can opener. You know. A type of can opener, of which the "butterfly" type is the basic default.

So Maxine, you have never heard of a non-electric can opener?
