American Top Gear is kind of slightly terrible. Okay that was an understatement, it is kind of very terrible. British Top Gear had actually good hosts, funnier jokes, and BBC accents. American Top Gear has... Americans making rough attempts at humor related to cars.

It just doesn't work, people.

Punching people is very romantic, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

Yes Kimiko, you were half the reason I wanted to see what was up with ponies, the other half was scy's fault.

One day I was just waltzing through the random pictures topic and found a random slew of the ponies, I was like "Ponies?" Then I went to TVtropes and found out about friendship is magic, and then my life went spiraling uphill form there.

Also, I just finished registering for college and stuff, have my schedule and everything and it begins in a month. I just know it's going to be chaotic first week... but I really don't know what college is like... someone want to give me some insight?

College is disappointment and evasion. Also being surrounded by cardboard people. You'll be the only one there who can pace a map, people will wonder what it is you're doing with that book, all ancient language classes will be cancelled due to lack of interest, you'll be openly offered opportunities to purchase university points for money, your teachers won't be able to parse your papers, and you'll drown in the vapid verbiage of the students who at least try to say something scholarly. Your only reassurance will be the pained cringe your philosophy teacher tries to hide with his cheek to the class, though he won't mention formal logic for the duration of the course.

Also, at some point one of your fellow students will produce a clear, concise, poignant piece of propaganda imagery for a popular issue and proceed to shit teenage, shrill slogans all over it.

Edit: You may once see an old friend in a crowd, asking a visiting university professor a mathless astrophysics question that goes unanswered, but after the session you won't be able to find your friend to tell him what he wants to know.

The opposite of everything he just said.

Really though, College is what you make out of it. If you go there with the mindset of it will all suck and be filled with vapid people then, surprise, you'll probably find that it sucks and you want to punch everybody in the face.

My best advice is there is far more to College than sit down and shut up learning. In fact, if you go to College and only come out of it with some shit you learned in class than you're a failure. It's a social experience. Go there for the environment. For the people. Not for book learning day in and day out.

college is like high school but you are responsible for everything you do and your teachers treat you like an adult, which goes both ways because they are more respectful of you but also less tolerant of bullshit. I do like it better.

I have no idea what "college life" is like though because I've never lived in a dorm or had friends there

It's less about the College life so much as it is about experiences. Meeting people, dealing with people, finding what you enjoy to do (and who you enjoy doing it with), breaking out of your comfort zone, "growing as a person", etc. kind of stuff. I don't really mean the cliche of partying through College or fratbro lifestyle, just doing something throughout your College years that isn't booksbooksbooks.

I really do appreciate the insight! [Especially yours Starfe]

Really, when I tried thinking about a major I just kind of wilted knowing I knew a lot of different things I might be interested in doing, its still a hard choice. Right now my current plan, since I'm still not 100% certain, is to get the basic stuff out of the way pronto [Those core subjects that you HAVE to do.] and that'll buy me about a year to continue trying stuff and figure out what I want to do til then.

And while I try figuring that out, I'll be sure to try to make the most of it! I think that half of the experience is learning the behavior of my teachers [Which one's are crazy, miserable, go-lucky, optimist, pessimist, loses everything, too organized for his own good (That is possible), etc.]

I'm also sure I'll meet a variety of people which will help broaden my perspective, and then certainly I'll know what to do in life.

Classes start on Aug. 29, 2 days after my b-day, so that's going to be interesting.

I've only went to my simple community college but I'll be the first to admit that it's been the best time of my life. I've LOVED ALL of my classes. My journalism ones were the best. Being surrounded by people of different ages with different career paths in mind but still having a meet of the minds in that one classroom. <3 Being surrounded by fellow writers was awesome, and learning ways to write that wasn't just essay writing was equally fun.

My computer classes, too. o_o sometimes, though, I feel a little in awe of some people who start going off on things that I've no idea about. T-T I feel sooo... not really "stupid" but... errrm, "not as educated". ^_^ But that's fun, too. I do wish I would have more guts to open up and come right out and ask questions of every little thing they are talking about, but I'm afraid that would ruin their conversation and who really wants to answer all of those little "what is that" "what is that" "what is that" questions. :3 Though, I always get a surge when I realize that I've gotten a higher grade on a programming assignment than they did. XD ...... nothing competitive about me, nothing at all. *snicker*

Can't say I've made any life-long friends but I've still got a lot of fantastic memories. I don't regret any of what I've been through.

Also, don't feel like you have to have a path set. You don't. Just take things as they come and see what's most enjoyable for you. I went through my journalism classes realized "meh, don't want to do newspapers afterall" and realized that while writing was fun, I had an edge over the other students in that I'm pretty decent hand at design (for one class our final assignment was to create an eight page magazine with which I impressed the teacher), and that also online journalism was another option, and that maybe I could try to channel video gaming into it as well.

Or if not, then I've got a pretty decent degree in webdesigning that I'm sure I can take somewhere else just as interesting.

Spent my college life content to keeping to myself. Got along well with some of the instructors, but not the students. Even then, I would not go out of my way to talk to the instructors. People would come to me all the time for help, because I generally pick up on things quicker. As I never have to study I spent most of my class time as a resource for the students. That is the extent of my interaction. Spent most of my free time reading, playing my DS, browsing the Internet or writing. A few people, whether they thought I was lonely, were interested in my character or had some kind of crush would occasionally visit me, but soon lose interest to go spend time with someone more lively.

Do not get the wrong idea. Scy's advice is the best advice. I have just always been the wolf, staring at the sheep from the outside. You do not want to be like me unless you can handle it. I have never been bored, angry or excited a moment in my life. If you have ever experienced either of these three feelings, then you would not last long or enjoy the world that unfolds before you.
