Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: look out for falling reindeer
Timelines, huh? That's cool, I guess I'll see you around.
Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: look out for falling reindeer
What function does this timeline serve exactly? Its not like they would implement a puzzle in a zelda game that would involve it, so is it only for those who want trivia? And pretty pictures I guess.

As tempting as it is to know the one secret of the universe, I think that kind of knowledge will blow way too many minds so I'll just wait until I catch wind.

Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: look out for falling reindeer
Because people like the lore of the games? That's really about 83% of my rationale of playing them these days.

Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: look out for falling reindeer
I like the lore of the games too, but I am 100% ok with accepting them all as completely different universes.

Again, Link can only fail in OoT?

Re: DISCUSSION THREAD: look out for falling reindeer
Time lining didn't really didn't become a matter of hot debate UNTIL OoT. Which I never understood. People were fine with LoZ <-> AoL and LttP <-> LA with nothing in between. But when OoT hit the shelves, it became one of the seven great wonders of the Zelda games - something else to wonder about when you weren't "Triforce Hunting".
Since then any articles that have been released by Nintendo that have had to do with timelines is OoT, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and now Skyward Sword.
It wasn't until after the release of Twilight Princess that Nintendo went "Oh, fine, you timeline enthusiasts, here's a bone for you to chew on: THERE ARE TWO TIMELINES!" (Me at the time: "*snicker* Nintendo is trolling.") And even then they were only referencing the games that I mentioned above.
So, it's really ... "interesting" ... to see that they might finally be acknowledging the earlier games and trying to fit them into a timeline for us gamers.
Personally, I'm fine with this set up. No inter-connectivity between these groups.
LoZ > AoL
LttP > LA
Oracle Series
Four Swords (Adventures) > Minish Cap (or was it vice versa?)
Skyward Sword > OoT > Majora's Mask > Twilight Princess > Wind Waker > Phantom Hourglass > Spirit Tracks ... all in some odd deranged bullshit timeline thing that Nintendo creates on a whim... is it one timeline? is it two timelines? three timelines? OMG MAYBE IT'S EIGHT!! .... oh but there are only seven... well, Nintendo will make it work somehow I'm sure.
.... *shrugs* Clearly I really don't give a damn about all of this timeline bullshit, but old habits die hard. I was a Zelda webmaster for 10 years or so of my life. I was forced to worry about this sorta stuff. If Nintendo wants me to believe in a timeline and actually care about it story-wise, please stick it in the game. Personally a part of me, because of the RANDOMNESS of Twilight Princess, I still want to stick it on its own line somewhere, exiled to its own private group. I mean, its so CLEAR that MM is after OoT and TWW takes place 100 years later (I believe that's what the game said?), and then Phantom Hourglass even has the same TWW characters, and Spirit Tracks has Nico ... see, these are well labeled. I can believe these are a timeline. I care about this timeline.
