Yeah, and I guess at least there is awareness now at all. I should hardly be complaining.

I just want to say something about this sentence on Wikipedia:

'Former U.S. Senator and MPAA Director Chris Dodd stated that the coordinated shutdown was "also an abuse of power given the freedoms these companies enjoy in the marketplace today."'

The guy is pretty much saying there's too much freedom in this country. I could literally spin this to say he wants to ban protest to prevent undesirable ones. Which would be all protests.

Military goes on about fighting for American freedom when that freedom seems like so 1776.

The MPAA letter was hysterical. I'd enjoy a job of spin control but the possibility of having to do things like that would make me cry.

Well, the term "abuse of power" refers to displaying that white-on-black screen saying "Hey, we don't like it", so not much spin required. I think that's what he actually meant.

*smirks* 1st Amendment: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Press, and Freedom to Protest and Petition

What "abuse of power" was committed? That the American people for once took a stance against something? That, OMG, it was not just lobbyists lining the guy's pocket with bribe money? Yeah, there's an abuse of power going on, but it has nothing to do with Google or Wikipedia.

Seriously, I don't even want to hear it. If Oprah can state her own presidential choice openly on-air, then the internet has the right to state its own opinion on a bill trying to be passed in the senate that would affect it directly.

I'll refrain from this discussion.

As for Megaupload, it's a file sharing service primarily, though they did do streams.

apparently they did some money laundering and were basically profiting over this whole business with pirates and all

there were plans to do this already but they just had the evidence or whatever

also the graphic designer for mu is apparently on the run

Sitting in an airport, the 2 little spoiled brats beside me are squabbling and both have macbook whatevers, the really thin ones. If your background is two pink cupcakes that say "best friends" why the $%^* do you need a laptop. They're like, 6.

I was using computers when I was six, and that was back in what? 1998?

I recall being the annoying brat with a computer, so I just find that somewhat amusing. Of course they're being annoying in public, which is a lot worse than when I was annoying in just my household, so I can see your pain, for I have dealt it before =P

Yeah, some of us used computers when we were that young, but we didn't have our own Macbooks for crying out loud. That's crazy. I don't even have a Macbook or anything nearly that nice. And I think the first electronic device I owned was a Gameboy Advance SP that I got when I was 12. So yeah. I find that crazy. I guess that's the age we live in now, though.
