Kind of random, and I do not want to make a thread for this, but what opinion do people have about a character in a cartoon who appears to be under the age of eighteen, but they still indulge in alcohol, drugs, use of modern-era fire arms, etc.? It is one thing if it is something aired on television, but the context here is just a series of web shorts.

While it is true that this is the Internet and there are worse things to see, sometimes I fear that... with recent events, some might find a teenager drinking and shooting other COMPLETELY UNREALISTIC BUT STILL HUMAN cartoon characters with realistic fire arms might be considered... distasteful? There is no blood and no consequence/continuity between each episode, but other character do die if they are shot and she finds it pretty funny... sooooooo~

On the other hand, there are/could be other characters who may bring rather mature implications as part of their personality. No actual sex/fullblown nudity of course, but certainly PG+13. With that in mind, that kind of already brings the age of the intended audience up.

I do not know. Nothing is even close to production yet so there is still time to reflect.

^I don't really believe in censorship. Given that this isn't really the thread for that, I wont say more than that you should definitely move ahead. Don't let creative endeavors be hindered by media outrage and armed madmen.

Additional: San Francisco was nice. I stayed in a hotel in Japan Town and ate a lot of sushi and drank a lot of beer while studying for my exam. Friend of mine took my out in Mission and Castro districts. Drank craft beer, had good times.

Happy Tree Friends has been around for quite a while. (Not that I particularly like the show.)

Hmm... Well, I never thought of it as censorship. If you put it that way, then yeah it is a pretty resounding green light from me to just stick with the original concept. Censorship has never done us any good. In fact, every time you baby your audience and butcher your work just because people cannot accept the real world, the more that future artists and writers will be too afraid to expose the full flesh of their vision. On the other hand, with everyone that walks into the dark room in order to prove there are no Legos on the ground, the more that others will feel comfortable doing the same.

Given the ridiculous amount of pre-teen and not-really-pre-teen-honest! porn in manga I don't think having under age characters drinking, taking drugs and shooting firearms is going to rock any boats.

^ Other than those chocolate-things with booze-filling, I had already given up on alcohol by the time I was eighteen years old. Maybe at thirteen, I guess. Fifteen?
Most of what I drank didn't taste good.

I was never really crazy about the idea of drinking alcohol. Particularly after I found out how nasty it tastes.

I am either grossly inept at technology (I am), or there is no conceivable way to hook up headphones to this display.

Alcohol tastes better with age and repeated exposure. Unless you drink way too much of a given type in one day, then cheap vodka and/or Tesco's orange juice will forever after trigger a gag reflex. Note the 'or', it doesn't even require the vodka.

Żubrówka and apple juice, however, is still mighty fine.

^ Some of it tasted pretty good. Just way the hell not enough so to warrant the price-tags and becoming even less sure of what I'm doing.

In Japan a litre of the best vodka costs about the same as 200g of decent cheese, whereas in the UK the vodka would be ~30x more expensive by weight. That says more about the ridiculous price of cheese here than it does the low spirits tax, but both are worth buying occasionally!
