The IT Crowd? *googles* I think I can get into that. IT is was what I am currently studying, so this should be twice as funny as normal.

Unless you hate great buys, or are some kind of crazy technophobe, .
Shit, the DVD one is $30 if you're that broke.

Spiderman's looking pretty thin there. Is his aunt feeding him enough?

You guys are idiots for thinking you're cool because you've seen a movie with a similar premise to another.
I mean, I didn't bother going and seeing Lord of the Rings because I've seen other movies with swords and magic. Look at me and how much cooler I am than the rest of you!

I don't even know what to say to that.

Yeah, at first I was all, "Suzanne Collins is a terrible writer 'cause Battle Royale came first!"
But then I realized that A) they aren't that similar otherwise in content or execution and B) that would be like saying James Patterson is terrible because other people wrote about detectives and serial killers first. All art is derivative, you know?
I enjoyed the trilogy. Not my most favoritest thing in the whole wide universe because at heart I am a bit of a literature snob, but that didn't stop me from devouring them in one weekend. :3

I don't fucking care about the ideas being similar (tons of books are similar to other books, that's just the way of the world), I just thought Zeta's image was particularly funny given the conversation I'd just had with my husband about it.
I have absolutely no interest in reading the books or seeing the movie. I'm sure they're fun, people like them, good for them, etc.
Hell, I only hate Twilight as much as I do for the ridiculous and infuriating passivity and dependence it teaches teenage girls to emulate. I don't care that it's silly and poorly written -- I'm not going to judge anyone for reading trash (I mean look at the shit I read; gay wizards, natch) -- but I a m going to care when a main character like Bella runs around obsessed with the idea that OMG 17 IS SO OLD and I MUST GIVE EVERYTHING TO YOU and also her entire shitty attitude toward Jacob. (I fucking hate her for that friendzone bullshit. I've had male friends develop crushes on me when I don't reciprocate, and it's awkward, but you back the fuck up and give them space and respect their feelings -- you don't treat them like an emotional boyfriend for the self-esteem boost) A lot of people just hate Twilight because they can, or because it's trendy to hate on it. That seems a bit ridiculous to me.
Anyway.
I'm definitely not a literature snob. I love the Battle Royal movie and have for years. From what I've read of the plot of the Hunger Games, they're similar but not entirely alike. It seems a perfectly plausible coincidence -- Collins pulls more from the legend of Theseus and the Minotaur than anything else.

Do not even get me started on all of the things that are wrong with Bella and Edward. Their dynamic annoys me to no end. It is NOT okay for a guy that you hardly know to sneak into your room so he can watch you sleep. I don't care if he's immortal. It's still creepy.
And I say I'm a literature snob but I read Glee fan fiction on a regular basis. Glee fan fiction. I have absolutely no room anywhere to judge anyone. I just have my preferences, same as everypony.
And yes, that Pulp Fiction image is hilarious. I only just now saw it because I'm a lazy bum and when I'm checking the forum from my phone I tend not to click the spoilers because it has to reload the whole page and I have to scroll all the way back down from the top and really there's no excuse. < < Just lazy.

Oh my god, yes, the pages we could fill for why their relationship is so twisted.
I now have the strongest urge to burst into your workplace and, whenever you recommend a book to a customer, pop up with "you know, she reads Glee fanfiction... so.... there's that to consider. Just saying."
