Just watched the last episodes of Legend of Korra's first season. : / Really annoyed they did not have the balls to do what I had wished for:

Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
^_^ Saw Brave back on Tuesday. OMG IT WAS SO AWESOME AND SO CUTE!! :3
I remember getting trolled a few years ago because I had no idea to some obscure reference to "Lost" and then I responded "What's Lost?" They seriously did not believe me that I had no idea at the time that it was a popular tv show.
What the fuck. Do people seriously live their lives around TV? I love NCIS but I would never troll someone because they have not heard of it?
Yeah. TV watchers annoy the hell out of me. I do watch a little more TV these days than I use to but even that is restricted to things I have taped on the DVR. Things like Mythbusters, People's Court, and I seriously can't wait for the next season of Warehouse 13 next month.
Movies are far few and in between. *sigh* And these days restricted to what I'm forced to watch with the family when we purchase something on ppv. x_x OMG if we watch another stupid fucking horror.... my god... last week's The Woman in Black was so beyond stupid it was painful... I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE horror movies. They are never any good.
Why... why does my family love them when they all come away with my same opinions at the end "meh, coulda been better."

Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
My sister wants me to see Cabin in the Woods SO badly. We were going to go see it in theaters but of course the weekend after my project was finally done was the weekend it left theaters. She says it's... well, it's a horror movie (aka crappy) but she loved the imagination in it and thought that I would, too.
.... personally (now, don't tell her this) I'm glad that I was not forced to waste my money on it... but, I would have liked to go see it with her just cause it would be going to see a movie with her ^_^; .... I love my sisters too much, I think.
Let's see... horror movies that I liked... oh! I did like the movie Insidious! Well, I thought the ending was for shit, but I loved the creativity in it! I also LOVED LOVED LOVED that it didn't go for what I call the "cheap jumps" (do I need to define this? In case: it's when a horror movie just throws something at you to make you jump... but it's a cheap scare tactic that I don't even call "scary"). It did have one single cheap jump moment but the effect of it was so surreal that it reached 'ooooh, that was scary' so I gave it that one.
I liked the first three Saw movies - when they weren't ONLY just about the killing but the fucked up psychology. The last movie was so fucking stupid that me and my sister had to sorta cheer each other through it (I would pick up the remote and she would be like... "no... no... ten more minutes" and then she would do that and I would do the same).
Let's see... The Ring, I guess... though I don't consider that "Horror". I liked the mystery behind it. Of course, the ending killed it. (By the way: Horror movies in my eyes NEVER have good endings, so let's just get this out of the way right now. ALL of these endings in these movies I'm listing sucks)
Stephen King's The Mist <-- I give the camera guy props for this one. It's pretty bad though when I appreciate how the show was shot more than I enjoyed the movie itself.
.... :3 I DO LOVE the Poltergeist movies. All three. The first one's ending didn't even suck that badly. I give it respect for that.
... I think that just exhausted my "horror movies I liked" list. I do want to see Paranormal Activity. Don't have much hope in it but it sounds creative.
Also, don't even bring up Slasher horror movies. I have no patience. I will walk out of the room for them. Can't stand them. Don't even waste my fucking time. This goes for any movie. The moment that characters start dieing right and left, I just get up and walk out. If a movie doesn't give a fuck about its characters that means it doesn't give a fuck about the story either.

I also liked Insidious! I thought it was really well done. I think you'll really like Paranormal Activity, too -- it excels at the creepy "omg stop it stop it" build up stuff, where nothing's OMGJUMP at you but you still get the heeby jeebies.
Also, I really recommend Cabin in the Woods. Just trust me on that one. Don't read anything about it. The movie is one of those that you need to know absolutely nothing about it going into the theaters in order to have the best experience.
Also do not judge it by the first act. Just. Trust me, give it time and be amazed.

Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
Haha, yeah, my sister has threatened me with death if I looked up anything about Cabin in the Woods. She's made it a point to tell me that she can't tell me anything about it without giving ANYTHING away. ^_^; Ok... I have my sis and a good friend recommend this movie to me. Now I am VERY curious. I'll definitely look for it when it comes out.
XD YAY! I was waiting for someone to insult me about Insidious! The ending was a bit of a let down but I loved the different ghosts and the situations.
Ooh, I like that comment about PA. No cheap jumps? Awesome.
To me, horror should be like Blair Witch (a movie I forgot to add to my list). It needs to feel real and plausible and the horror of it is in the subtlety. Cheap jumps do not scare. They just get a quick scream but if you were to replay the scene again... it's not scary because you are expecting it. I like to be able to rewatch a horror movie again and feel the same sort of horror I felt at those moments.
^_^ I loved rewatching Insidious because I even found a few things that I had missed in the first watch.

Watched Prometheus yesterday. I quite enjoyed it. It answers a few questions, and presents a bunch of new ones. I wasn't quite sure what to make of the Engineer/Progenitor dudes.

Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
yup.
Cinema Cafe shows 2nd/late run movies for super cheap ($1 on Tuesdays, $2.50 matinee, $4 evening) They also serve beer/wine and food, like burgers and pizza and whatever. I usually get a rootbeer float since they make them with locally craft-brewed fancy rootbeer. Yum.
I saw Dark Shadows yesterday. It was meh. For a dollar it's really hard to dislike a movie, 'cause you paid a dollar to sit in an air-conditioned room and see a movie on the big screen :3
I kind of love the shit out of Cinema Cafe.
