Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
So, last weekend my sister and I got on a conversation about imagination and things that somehow managed to sidetrack into movies. Or something. I know we also talked about now-a-days cartoons vs old ones. We also talked about Mary Poppins, that she hates, how she's never "watched" Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Willy Wonka that she's only see the newest one of but that it wasn't really her sort of thing. I was talking to her about the imagination in it and that she kept seeing only the hard facts of the movie but wasn't allowing her imagination to flow blah blah blah and some odd random conversation like that. ^_^ One of those conversations that has no point but just goes where it wants as we sit there and enjoy each other's company (yes, yes, I love my sister).
And somehow while talking about Wizard of Oz - suddenly a stirring of a memory. A movie I hadn't watched since I was maybe 10. "Oh! ... I just remembered something!! Wizard of Oz had a sequel that I LOVED LOVED as a kid." (And I really did, though the ironic part was that I had forgotten it at some point during those childhood years.)
Her: "Oh? What was it about?"
*Long pause as a I searched my memory* "Dorothy was taken to a psychiatric ward."
"Uhh.... what?"
"Oh! Yeah, they took her in for shock therapy."
Her: *long pause as she gives me this suspicious look* "Seriously?"
"Yeah! It was really gothic!! I can't believe I forgot about it. There were parts in it that scares me as a child." :3 I pull up a few images and as we both stare at it we're like "OMG this is like something by Tim Burton!"
So, I got it on Netflix. ^_^ It was great to relive a childhood movie that I had so loved when I was young. It was even better that Clarissa enjoyed it. We both laughed and at this one part that I told her was the most scariest for me when I was a child she was like "OMG I SEE WHY?!! WHAT THE HELL?!! THIS WAS FOR KIDS? WHAT WERE THEY SMOKING?!!"
............ <3 It has become a fantastic memory ^_^ and she has fallen absolutely in love with the movie (even with it being an older one).

Re: What are you watching? (TV/Movies)
I've been seeing movies on $1 Tuesdays ... 'cause, hell, it's a $1!
I saw Men in Black 3 and it was fun.
Also started "Classic Americana Movie Summer" with Mr Kino -- we did this a few years ago and really liked it, so decided to start it back up again. We're watching movies that neither of us (or one has seen and will re-watch with the other) have seen that are part of classic Americana... last time we did this, we saw stuff like Dr Strangelove, Sunset Boulevard, Citizen Kane, etc. The best part is that even if we don't like the movie, we're at least like "okay, well, I'm glad I saw that"
So far we've seen:
- Annie Hall (neither of us liked it, but appreciated some of the more innovative production elements, like breaking the 4th wall, random animated sections, and clever cinematography)
- The Rescuers (meh)
- Stephen King's It
- The Maltese Falcon
We've brainstormed up a couple more we need to watch, like Full Metal Jacket (which I've never seen but he has) and The Sword in the Stone.

I get goosebumps every single time they start singing in that trailer.

i saw the Dark Knight Rises. Really good, but with the huge scale of the movie, I feel it lost touch with what it means to be a batman movie, so I'll probably always like the second one the best.

^ I saw it a few days ago, and I agree with both of you, though part of me still likes Liam Neeson as the villain better,

Saw Dark Knight Rises. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I agree with noodles and Starfe about scale.
