I saw Toy Story 3 yesterday. It was pretty good.
About Night & Day (the short at the beginning):
Night & Day was nice but the exposition from that radio tower part took something away from it.... The short would have been better with no words at all, imho, for greater overall effect. My feeling upon hearing words was vaguely like hearing someone try to explain a joke.
About the movie itself:
Immortality is pretty sucky. Happy endings aren't really. You know that, dear toys. Also, I found it hard to swallow the rapid change of character/behaviour of Lotso's former crew at the end.
No, I did not get anywhere close to crying at any point. Probably because I'm dead inside.
That monkey was pretty fucking creepy, yeah.
Edit:
And regardless of their reactions to Lotso's deception or how it may have changed them, they still had crimes to pay for.
Also, saw Despicable Me yesterday.
Enjoyed all three.

:3 So Despicable Me was really enjoyable? ^_^ It looks great. I wanna see it! But I will wait until it's out for rent or on DVD.

It's definitely something I'll be adding to my personal library when released on disc.

I've finally watched Dirty Harry.
I usually hate action films. Often, they lack a plot or interesting characters at all, and if they do have interesting characters, then the action just gets in the way of their development. There are some notable exceptions (the first two Terminator films, The Fugitive, etc.) and action combined with adventure or sci-fi can be quite good, but in general they just bore the crap out of me.
Which is why I'm shocked I actually loved Dirty Harry, and almost want to watch it again. Eastwood was as phenomenal as you'd expect, and the one-liners were delivered perfectly, but it also brought up some rudimentary moral questions in an interesting way. I found myself cheering for the hero throughout. Perhaps best of all, the action was tense and enhanced the story. It helped that it was gritty and never seemed all that improbable
--------------------------------------------------
I also saw Toy Story 3. So much has been said about that movie that it's not worth repeating any of it, but it goes without saying that it's the best movie I've seen this year and Pixar has lived up to its name once again. Is it as good as the first one? Nope. But it's miles better than the second (one of my least favorite Pixar films, actually), and, while it has a couple of flaws (tired jokes, too many characters), it's a worthy way to close up the franchise and I was having too much fun at the theater to actually think about any of them.
The last time I saw the Toy Story characters on the big screen, I was nine years old and it was 1995. I could definitely sympathize with Andy--I grew up with these movies and these characters, and it's hard to let them go.
Nice to hear they'll be in short films and such, but I really hope they don't make a Toy Story 4. It's over.
By the bye, I don't cry at movies much, but I did cry at Up last year and Toy Story 3 brought me close near the end.

Hanyou, I was going to resurrect your Nolan films thread, but thought better of that level of necromancy.
Your thoughts on Inception? I have been thinking of you constantly since seeing it. If you don't mind, I'll selfishly hold my own thoughts until hearing yours.
