Similar boat as SAL. I was the right age* and was already a transformers fan at the time of the movie. I was ready for Optimus Prime --> [hide]Rodimus Prime[/hide]. It was good times.
Well okay not *quite* the right age, but close enough. I was 4 at the time of the movie, and so must have watched it a few (3-ish probably) years after the original release, but I was indeed already familiar with the regular TV series before watching the movie.
