Well I'm a college student on an animation course although it's sorta weird that I only took this course thinking that it would help me become a manga artist as I wanted my whole life. The only problem... I'm not Japanese nor am I in Japan. And I never even thought of becoming an animator in the first place.
The new semester and our final year in the university just started and I'm all set on preparing for the our Thesis class. I was thinking of unleashing all my power on making something memorably badass like 3d gundams fighting or an epic FF style swordfight. Although we were asked to work in groups, I decided to work on mine alone, but then my friends kept on asking me to join their group since none of them know what to do ( I'm actually surprised that they made it this far, but then.. I was always helping them out ) so out of pity I did join them. I told them what I planned on doing for the Thesis and they ewe fine with it since I know that they know that I'll be doing almost all of the work since I wrote the story. But then crap happened. Our professor told us to make our animation...uhh..nationalistic. COME ON!!! I planned on making something epic and they plan to ruin it with that one word!!! Damn it I despise patriotism( it kills/killed more people in the world than sharks, alligators and elephants ever will)and do you even know that in some countries they imprison people for something as stupid as forgetting the national anthem. Sometimes I think the world would be better off with only one country called Earth.but Oh well I guess there goes my Otaku dreams and my soul along with it. WHY GOD WHY? WHY DID I HAVE TO BE BORN IN THE PHILIPPINES!!!! WHY CAN'T I HAVE BEEN BORN JAPANESE?

After repeatedly getting psychological treatment from my manga characters ( I love you guys). I finally came to accept it although I still hate it. But this time I plan on making 2 thesis projects, one made with their standards, and one created with all my soul the way I want. BAD ASS ANIME STYLE!! now let's see if they've got the nerve to reject that.

Yeah.. uh.. sorry for suddenly freaking out like that I'm just really dedicated to anime that's all

When they said 'nationalistic', did they specify which nation? Maybe you could make them nationalistic aliens or fairies.
Another angle might be to show how bad nationalism is/can be. That's still following the rule, just not the way it was intended

Interestingly enough, reciting it day after day makes it slowly lose its meaning.

A school I went to for grade 6 made us do a canadian knock-off of the American pledge every day. Then again, that's the same school where at every assembly we sang "Together" from High School Musical.

Elementary school, y u so horrifying?!

The one thing I have learned from my thermo/heat transfer/fluid dynamics course is the pain of being an engineering student.

This quarter:

HSTEU 368: Modern European Jewish History (1492-Present)
HSTAS 423: History of Modern Japan (1600-1945)
HIST 388: Colloquium: The Supernatural and the Sacred in the Middle Ages

Pretty sick quarter, looks like. Especially given that my Japanese history course is taught by this motherfucking guy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_Pyle

In class yesterday he told us how embarrassed he felt about his Japanese during his private audience with the emperor.

Tomorrow I am put to the test.

Been on my 100 hours of observation in a class room setting. The teacher will not be there tomorrow, and will have a sub. I may be more involved, unless the sub is highly competent. Or I'll get kicked out if they do not want me there.

miss one day of school and all this work piles up!!!
