So, sitting here in my first session of "Religions of Mankind" ...which is the introductory course in religious studies. Looking around... it seems full of freshmen!
Thinking I'll be taking this course as opposed to Understanding Islam. The professor seemed very nice, but she spoke very quickly and wasn't exactly clear on the course requirements and grading schema. And, honestly, I'm just looking for a gen ed class to fulfill my basic requirements.
Right now, the professor is discussing the Indus River Valley civilizations (Harappan culture) ... OHSHIT she just used BCE. Awesome. Awesome awesome awesome.
Although I couldn't get a syllabus from her. She was like "the TA will be around to pass it out" and I was all "Oh great!" ... but it's half way through class and so far I haven't seen the TA. Looking around I see people with a packet of info... seems to have some notes... Hm. I guess I'll go up after class and reiterate my need for a syllabus. I want to see what the grading schema looks like before I commit.
Heh. She just asked "Religion is the opiate of the masses.... Who said that? Does anyone know?"
Me: Marx.
Class: *turns around to stare at me*
Me: o_o (thinking, "What? You didn't know that?")
...Aw. I'm not on the roll sheet. Must also remember to ask her about that.

School starts tomorrow for me. Yippee.
Ugh. I have Spanish first, and, having experienced her teaching style last year (she's the type that makes the entire class do the boring exercises in the [outdated] textbook--what fun!), I'll probably have trouble staying awake if I'm tired enough. But it's not like I'll be missing anything if I do (assuming she doesn't catch me). I usually just look ahead and learn all the basic vocabulary and grammar before hand, and use her explanation as clarification.
At least her room is conveniently located for me. It was last year, but even more so this year.

I figured people night not know, but so many people turned around to stare. o_o Which was weird.
So, Aztec Empire and History of the English Language are both really awesome. I can't decide which I like better. Both professors are super-cool, too.
Remember how I mentioned I was going to be taking the math CLEP? Well, I took it... and I got a 48... I needed a 50 to earn credit. I came home yesterday and cried for like 30 minutes because I can't retake the test for 6 months, and this is going to end up being the last 3 credits I need to graduate. (Graduation = can start planning wedding = can get the fuck on with my life)
The plan now is to take it from the community college and just beg the professor to give me a D even if I actually earn an F. I'll just go to class everyday and do every homework and get on my knees and BEG the professor to please please please give me a D!
Fuuuuuuck math! Dammit. I hate hate hate the fact that we take all this crap in high school and then have to start over in college. I am never going to need this again, ever. If you want to give me like... mental/practical math in which we do actual problems I might encounter (such as counting back change, figuring prices after tax, figuring interest rates and comparing investments/loans) than that would be useful.
Also, what the fuck is the answer to this problem:
2^5x-3 = 4^2x+1
Solve for x.
