My paper about Venetian whores was voted "Most Interesting" by the class.
Awesome.

I still haven't learned any actual chemistry in my chemistry class. So far it's been more mathish, with significant digits and metric conversions and all that. All the quizzes so far have been pretty easy, though.
So, Kino, what did your paper go into detail about?

^_^ Thanks. Took me about an hour to find the sources, about 2 hours to read them and pull the selections I wanted to use, about then about 3-4 hours of typing/revision to produce the paper. Being a history major, I've got this whole research essay thing down pat.
I also love research <3

What was the length of the essay? I know people who can effortlessly pump out mountains of words while I fuss over every word for hours and I'm like ;___;

About 5 pages, there are like four sentences on page 6.
The hardest part is the intro and conclusion, so I usually just start typing the first body paragraph and that gets me going. I take a short break whenever I hit a wall. I keep my sources close at hand and generally have the quotes I want to use already lined up. I form a general outline in my head while reading the sources, or I have an outline/theory and read the sources to fit the idea. I make use of the index to find the passages I need, rather than have to read all 300 pages of a source. Articles from JStore or ProQuest are usually specific enough to fill in research gaps that I need, like for my courtesan paper I used an article for the Casa de Zitelle.
Like I said, history major. I do this often.

I was always good at essays
I was also good at opening with a hook and finding the important parts and making the thesis clear :B
only stuff I hated was when they were like INCLUDE AT LEAST X SOURCES ON THIS, X SOURCES ON THAT, AND USE AT LEAST X QUOTES ON THIS AND X QUOTES ON THAT
goddammit I know how to make a point and back it up with evidence let me make a compelling essay without your stupid nitpicking
though I don't know how different college essays will be compared to HS essays
