Middle school and 9th was like that for me, too, Kino. When I moved and got into 10th I was hell bent on forcing my new persona that I was intent on creating for myself. I was NOT going to give a shit about people, I was NOT going to put up with their bullshit, and I would be downright rude to them if they got on my case. Essentially, I introduced a little cynicism in my life and was intent on standing up for myself even if I had to get physical about it.
I only had to once. A guy started throwing pencils at my head and I stood up and threw a textbook back at him (one of those huge heavy Health ones). The teacher took me out to the hall and "talked to me" about it, but he was a kewl teacher and I understood my excuse for my behavior.
Fortunately, that high school in Connecticut was the best years of my life ^_^.
I ended up ranting....
While in 10th grade I stayed to myself, skipped lunch and read in the library, I made some "indirect" friends. One of whom sat down while I was reading at my lunch table (one of the few times I decided to buy lunch since mom was counting my lunch money and getting mad at me for not eating) and asked me if she could have my fries... then the pizza... the the rest of what was on the tray. She was a big heavy set girl (T-T I think her name was like Tracy or something) with one of those leather jackets and an attitude that she'd kill anyone who pissed her off. o_O For some reason she took me as a friend whether I wanted her or not and followed me around. She was a foster child and joined late and ended up being in my health class of all the oddities. Meh, I enjoyed her company XD and nobody wanted to be near me when she was around so it was great. :3 She helped me with my attitude, too. She left a few months later, though.
We had a friend in common named Holly - who later then introduced me to Shannon in 11th. I can't remember where I met Heather. Anyways we were off to lunch one day and Holly "forced" me to participate instead of running off to go read. Another "acquaintence" named Renee joined us. So, I was too put off by the situation. They all got talking and me and Shannon were at the end of the table. I was being stubborn and sighed and said I'd much rather be writing - Shannon agreed. "Oh, you write?" "Kinda... I like to write war romance stories..." Me: <3 FELLOW WRITER!
:3 I... started attending lunch on a permanent basis. Heather turned out to also be a writer. ^_^ The three of us really got close to each other. Then I brought in a kid named David from an Algebra class. He was... mentally handicapped but he was my equal in math and we both enjoyed ranting about it and he loved to hear our story conversations.
By twelfth grade our "table" was well established with me on one end with the "geeks" and we formed a spectrum where at the other end was formed the "emo/goth" through the friend-is-friend-is-friend chain. There was only one person I knew at the end of our table. My sister Christina. We had no idea we were even sitting at the same table until we happened to have some money issues and we walked and just... didn't split up until we reached the table. Her at one end and me at the other. XD We just find that the most hillarious part.
-_- I really miss those days and that group. So many good memories. It's a shame that it wasn't until those last three years that I actually found a "place" in school.
O_O I DIDN'T EVEN INTEND TO RANT... WHAT THE HELL!! SORRY ABOUT THAT.... ^_^;; That's just how strongly I feel, I guess. Once I got started I couldn't stop, LOL
