Also, I read something on that page about a "Treasure/Fortune Boat" (or something like that), which would explain the title screen a little bit, but... can someone explain the story of this? XD

Nah, seriously, I play the games because danmaku just looks fuggin' BEAUTIFUL. I mean, sure, it's always dieing but... I'm always surrounded by such colorful bliss as I'm sent to hell. T-T
