^_^ Thanks.

The ending didn't come off quite as I had it in my mind. Somehow the story took on a life of its own, but, I'm ok with it. Actually, I'm quite impressed. It took out a bit of the "lucky kill" moment and made things more believable and just a bit more extraordinary in my opinion.

Yay! I'm done with the chapter!

...Started the next chapter and... I now have 4 pages of absolute CRAP. .... :( *sigh* Going to just highlight and delete I think. Somehow a minor argument exploded into 4 pages of dialogue with no point. GRRRR

^_^ It's always good to have a history in place.

*sigh* I have a history but I seriously need a timeline. <_< I can't decide exactly how many years ago something was, and it's getting down to the point that I really need that. Actually a timeline is almost integral for my stories since it's not a series but a chronicles and I'm always going to be bouncing around from one point to another.

:\ I just realized the other day that I had a bit of a mistake. One of my characters is going to become a Sorcerer, get married to Maxine, and have children. I had planned on another set of books that starred yet another Weaver (aka: God of Magic) that was probably going to be her grandchild or maybe great grandchild. Which is fine, but then I realized o_o; my Sorcerers live for a VERRRRRRRY long time. I mean, it's never set in stone or anything how long they live, and some live longer than others, but it's still a bit of a problem. Now I just have several things I need to consider.

1) Do I make Maxine have a long life?
2) Should Sorcerer decide to give up his long life so he doesn't live much longer than her?
3) If they DO live long lives, how long is that, and exactly where in the timeline should the next Weaver appear?
4) Perhaps I need to decide on the average age length of a Sorcerer *sigh* barring the few that live abnormally long lives.

GRRRR WHAT THE FUCK HAVE I DONE?! WHY DIDN'T I REALIZE THIS BEFORE?!!!

By the way, there was an article posted up that I found to be a very fun read:

^_^ Enjoy.

Put them on boats and make them sail into the sunset to live in retirement together

Or less ripping directly from Tolkien but still trying to give decent advice; sorcerer becomes a hermit after maxine lives her normal lifespan and dies. Don't be cheap and solve the mortal/quasi-immortal proble, by fixing one or both lifespans. Have her get old and die, whereas the sorcerer ages only a relatively small amount. That way you can bring him back around in a cameo role later, or throw mentions of him in a certain geographic area ie, the mountain folk speak of the Wise Man of the hill, and the current main character might not realize this is her great-grandfather but the reader will know, and the reader will feel fucking awesome for catching it, especially when the MC never finds out

Dying of broken heart is a thing that actually happens, so I guess that's option 5.

Option 6, should you choose to accept it, is to have him alive anyway. Grandparents often live to see their grandchildren, even without supernaturally long lives. And I personally met four of my great-grandparents.

^_^; I can't do any of that...

These are rather big spoilers for my books:
Sorcerer becomes the Sorcerer-Emperor of Sharanna (the small continent the stories take place on). So, he can't disappear - that idea is out. Maxine is a reincarnation of a fallen angel. The children they have, needless to say, are considered "very" special and they are constantly being monitored for possible god-powers, but the most that really happen (so it seems) is that there are one or two Sorcerers and the others are just really good Magicians. Maxine's power doesn't transfer until after she dies, so it's very important that she does die.

I had the normal Sorcerer age cap set at 150 - some, such as Arkoff live MUUUUUUUUUUCH longer (Arkoff, who no longer can remember his age, is rumored to have been alive before Maxine's predecessor became a fallen angel ... roughly a thousand years if I ever decide on my official timeline).

I've thought about it... I've nibbled on my pen a few times... and I'm just going to keep things as they are. Maxine has a normal life span. She's a Fallen Angel and I do not think the other Elementals would appreciate her having a long life. They are going to be very pissed off when they realize her powers transfer to another. The Sorcerer is just going to continue on, sitting on his throne, and while the children are not considered "royal" (that's not how the throne works to begin with) they do get a little bit of respect from the idea their great-grandfather (or whatever) is on the throne.

... I actually do not mind the idea of a pining love-sick Sorcerer who misses his dearly departed, now that I've sat and thought about it. I can actually see him being quite frustrated to be looking for traces of his wife in his grandchild to see if she was just reincarnated but finding none. I doubt he'll play a prominent role of any sort in those books.

Yeah I thought of that option 5 quite a bit but... it doesn't fit this character. Pining and missing her, yes, and I could see him going to her grave on a daily basis, but he's not the sort, I feel, that would pass away from missing her. I feel that would just cheapen his character. He loves her but isn't strictly dependent. He would be use to Maxine not being there anyways since he would be sitting on the throne while she is off taking care of some evil-doer far, far away.

I spent like 2 weeks trying to figure out the way to start this story I wanna write, so finally I just said FUCK IT and started in the random middle of the first scene, rather than with the very first line

^_^ That's the best way to start a story, Kino. When you are stuck, just start in the middle of the action. Sometimes even the conclusion. There are times that I want to write a scene so bad that I just skip to it and construct the previous material after that. *sigh* I miss doing that with TLQ. Except for the ending chapters, the story is in place :(

The fact that it's been done before does not mean that it can't be done better.

Starting out with familiar territory helps break your readers into your story more gently. For example, in my story, I start my character out with just wands - Harry Potter like stuff, before later on I get into an almost Enchanted Forest like magic system with Threads and colors and a complex magic creation system.

You will notice that above I listed two books that I borrowed from quite liberally. Does that mean my story is Harry Potter? Fuck no. Is my story Enchanted Forest Chronicles? Not even close. I have borrowed from thousands of my favorite stories and thrown all of my favorite parts into one huge melting pot.

Just fast wrote notes on another species.

EDIT: And I'm thinking about making a story right after the first real novel again!

Random thought for the day:
A Bash-type weapon with a 'Vorpal' attribute would make for a good ingredient in a horror story.
