Your synopsis always read like the back of a novel, Maxine. Mine are usually vague, intertwined ideas centered around one or two scenes that pop into my head.
My plot ideas and story snippets are more like incoherent scribbles with arrows and question marks everywhere, or maybe a few pages of a scene.

^_^ I don't really think anyone should ever compare their modes of working to anyone else. We all work differently. If that's how you story write, that's great.
As for writing synopsi... I dunno. I treat it the same way I would if I were writing a news article. Short, to the point, and it tells the info that needs to be told while remaining completely objective.
Umm, in Meix's particular instance, though, I woke up and those three paragraphs are what I wrote. I didn't stop to edit or anything and it's the only time I've ever thought of the story.
I write this way, while I also write scenes (The Little Questors for example started out as a scene I wrote for a friend demonstrating fantasy and making a good character XD I just happened to fall in love with her as well). Sometimes it's dialogue (such as in the case of that one-wish story).
Sometimes I also start with a purpose. Like in The Broken, my first NaNoNovel, I wanted to write about a mute boy.
Death's Doors, my second one (and the one I won with), I wrote wanting to write about this unique idea I had for the House of the Dead and the doors connecting to different times.
I use a bunch of different techniques ^_^;
And even then... I've restarted Maxine's story at LEAST 50 times (no, seriously). I'm FINALLY on what I feel is the draft of the Final Version.
And last, but not least, Kino: I've been writing since I was in the third grade. I've had A LOT of practice at this and a lot of criticism and self-criticism. Writing up a synopsis is a two minute project for me. Not to mention I've had a lot of practice when I would be sitting at a lunch room table and trying to describe my ideas to my friends (writers and non-writers). THAT teaches you quick. Otherwise their like "I don't get it." or they get that blank, bleary eyed stare that tells you they are no longer listening. >_<

If I tried to write a synopsis on the back of something I wrote, it would end up as an obscure dark poem

>_> Seriously, every year they say that they are going to do something about the downtimes with better and bigger servers.
It makes me worry if they are ALREADY experiencing downtime and it's not even November yet.
<_< Ick. I always avoid the site the first week like it's the plague. This year is looking like it's going to be no different.

Noodles what about your RPG idea with the girl escaping from the room and getting carried through the snow by the hero?

I'm not sure if I could write that without getting to a point in the story that I have already written
and I am not cheating :D

Looking through my plot snippets and ideas with an eye toward ease of writing (like that "GET UP AND GO" that nanowrimo needs) and potential length.
Still liking my first idea the best. Still need my "monsters."
Hrrrrrrm...
