This is my Work-in-Progress folder I use to store story ideas, snippets, etc. Inside these tabs are anything from the back of napkins to pages from notebooks. I have two identical divided pocket folders that are storing my first long fantasy series, written entirely by hand. I'd photograph them, but they're in the bottom of the filing cabinet and therefore inaccessible.

All typed stories are kept on my laptop (and back-ups on my external HD as well as a dedicated back-up USB drive). They're sorted out into folders and such, all neat and orderly.

Whoa. I've never actually seen that type of folder in real life.

Yes.

I mean, I know what those are, and I know people still use them, and my parents said people used those instead of backpacks when they went to high school. But I've never, ever actually seen someone using one. I usually saw people just putting plastic dividers into 3-ring binders.

:3 I suppose i'll just get a normal binder than ^_^ although i have a fear of ripping a page in any way so i might buy a horde of sheet protector's <.< as for the Dividers i really like Maxine's method so i might use that if i can?

LOL, sure Stealth, but... save money and don't buy the sheet protectors.

I've had some of these pages rip, tear, had coffee spilt on them, and even once left the damn notebook outside.

Don't wright in ink and just be prepared to re-write some pages anyways. Besides, you should always be constantly updating your notebook anyways. Many of those pages are going to be old and useless to you before you know it if you are anything like me.

Plus, did I mention how huge the notebook has gotten? That I'm now using a much bigger notebook. That's a LOT of protectors.

^_^ But, yes, you are more than welcome to use my idea. It's great to use a binder. You can clip things in and out, you've got pockets, and it's just a great way to ATTEMPT to be organized.

Grandmother was a star-reader, one of the last, whose vast wisdom anchored me as it had so many for so long. Her ancient, lined face reflected the sorrows and joys of our people, her veined and shaking hands comforted babes and warriors alike. I considered it an honor to assist her, to live with her, to love her. When her eyes clouded gray and could no longer see the stars, she still interpreted their motions based on my detailed words. When she asked me for this, her last and greatest act of loyalty to our people, I jumped to assist as I had always. What the stars did not tell her, and what I could not foresee, was the disaster which would arise from this final act of sacrifice.

Like all of us, I had been raised hearing the warnings of old and of the Last Great War. Like many of us, I had lost much in that war, but it was Grandmother who lost the most. Only I knew the weight of that loss to her, and only I understood it.

Whereas most of us only heard the legends of the guardians, Grandmother had seen them with her own eyes, in the long ago, the time of peace. She had been only a child, but could recall their strength and majesty with a clarity that made the old legends sing. There was no one else alive who could make such a claim. Of the star-readers, of the eldest, Grandmother's life alone stretched back to that time.

So it seemed fitting to me that it would be Grandmother who would bring back the guardians and save our people, our way of life. I followed her without question. I trusted her without thought. Now, sitting in this dark hole without even the comfort of the stars, I feel uncertainty. But even if I had known the outcome, would it had changed anything? Would have I still given my all, as she had asked, to save our world?
