Hard, like hard candy? I don't think that's a very common form for licorice here.
I prefer salty licorice, though I've kinda lost my taste for the super ultra salty variety.
I'm surprised though to find someone outside northern Europe liking salty licorice. I'd heard it was a regional thing.

Ah, like little cat licorice. That's very tough and sticky if you chew it.

Ginger in almost any tea is a nice way to start the day. Really helps to clear up whatever has built up in your throat overnight.

Oh, I bought a jar of small pieces of dried ginger the other day. Now I just need to buy some loose tea (need to restock anyway; I've been subsisting mostly on bagged tea lately) and I can make my own ginger tea. It's been years since I last had some. The only store that had it stopped stocking (or making) it. I should probably leave it alone for a while after mixing so the flavor can properly absorb into the tea. Although I wouldn't remove the ginger before brewing anyway.

NL is pretty diverse too, especially here in the . I know of at least three shops that sell loose tea and could probably find a few more.
As for the ground ginger, I've tried it, and it tastes icky. Instead of steeping the ginger in your tea, then removing it, it's impossible to remove ginger powder (unless you apply some serious filtering I suppose). I think I still have some sachets of ginger/sugar left. I should throw them out sometime because I don't have any use for them really.

Ah, I see. To each her own of course. ^~^
I'll prefer the real thing any day, that is for sure.

It is real ginger. And real tea. I just take it out after steeping.

Yes. I was saying I prefer that over the powdered substance.

Oh, my mistake. I thought you were advocating the powdered stuff.

Wonder what one would bake with appleseed. They have confectionary taste. Would they be milled or ground? Chopped?
Maybe just use them in a topping, sauce or salad. Needn't be for sweet things.

I have recently discovered the magic of soy milk powder.
Soy milk powder + sugar + spice + hot water = heavenly beverage.
