I've never been able to master the art of rice in a pan to be honest.
Besides, it leaves a burner free on the stove, and it's just a two-step process: 1) Add rice + water 2) Push button. TADAAA RICE! It's extremely convenient for curry, especially, because it takes about 20 minutes, so right after I get to the simmer stage I can set up the rice and its done.

Boiling rice in a pan is easy. Water in pan, high heat until boiling, add rice, low heat, leave until rice has desired consistency, drain water, tadaa. Exact same process as boiling any other kind of foodstuff. Takes about the same amount of time as the electric appliance (yay physics).
And as for leaving a burner free, if you seriously need all four burners, you must be a super chef cook and therefore already know how to boil rice. Ergo, you don't need four burners.

You'd drain the water? I'd think the rice would absorb it be and all fluffy. HM.
No matter. I will soon own a way cool new rice cooker... I think I'll get a fancy-ish one from the asia mart next time I go! Oh boy.
Right now I'm making some afternoon tea with some mini-taco frozen snacks. I've decided that for dinner I'll make my famous chicken noodle bake. I say famous because people tend to love it, which amuses me since it's such a stupid simple recipe!
All I do is boil some egg noodles. Drain egg noodles. Take a large can of condensed cream of chicken soup. Add half to a 9x13 baking dish with some milk, stir. Add half the noodles. Stir again. Add some milk to the remaining soup, stir in the can, and then add the soup with the rest of the noodles in the baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 30 minutes in a 425 degree oven.
TADA delicious. It's stupid cheap, too, considering there's usually leftovers for the next day.

I have two pounds of chuck steak sitting in the fridge for dinner. Without my rice cooker I don't want to make curry (and besides there's curry in my big pot that needs to be eaten or tossed out...)
I'm thinking of just pan-frying it with angel hair cream-sauce noodles as a side dish. Hmmm... seems like a waste almost. Maybe I'll look up some recipes that can use the mushrooms and bell peppers I had set aside for curry. I have egg noodles, too.. And potatoes. Surely these items can make something delicious!
