Like I said, unless you're doing it wrong~
Or doing it right, I guess; the other (i.e., non-holyshitwhatthefuck?) endings are pretty boring.
In other news, there's a new Phantom (Phantom of Inferno) coming to the 360. It's based off the anime. Which is based off the original VN. Great, a VN based on an anime based on a VN.

Of course not. You were just avant-garde, playing VNs before they became popular.

Did I miss the memo on VNs becoming popular?

I don't think, as you said, Scy, that they are "popular". I think the more correct turn of phrase though is that they are "more popular" than they use to be. I think this is what Kimiko is trying to say.

The market for them is still struggling, but it has a better chance now than it might have ten years ago.

10 years ago? That's a bit out of the time range we're looking at. 5 years ago, perhaps? Even then, that is pre-FSN so I guess they're "more popular" now than then.
Besides, I'm pretty sure quite a few of that "interest" is just to those who enjoy some good ol' 2D fucking.
I actually played Saya no Uta before there was any idea for a translation project of it, if that says anything about my choice in VNs >_>

Translation patch for Episode 6 of Umineko is out. Though, I'm sure I'm the last to know -_-;

Is there a list in here of recommended visual novels?

I could go ask /jp/ for one of those charts but I want to know what this place thinks

Well, I don't know about many other than, say, Ever17 (which I've never played), Narcissu, True Remembrance, and Higurashi/Umineko. Are you looking for boy love or something like that, noodles?

And speaking of Umineko, about the knock/letter riddle of Episode 5...
I'm pretty sure that at the very least, there was never a knock. I guess someone placed the letter near the door, and nobody noticed it. After all, everyone was pretty emotional at the time, and Shannon and Kanon were pushing a serving cart when they entered (and let's just say that the letter was pushed up against the wall on the floor).

And then when Krauss comes back into the dining room after talking to Natsuhi, he picked up the letter and brought it with him.

I'm assuming that referring to "the knock" in all the red truths doesn't necessarily mean there was a knock in the first place. Or "the knock" referred to some other knock on a door.
