I'm going to laugh if [hide]the epitaph solution covered in Ep.7 is incorrect.[/hide] It's probably not, though.
Wasn't there some weird thing with the alias of the guy that originally posted the Qilian theory that brought up the possibility of him being Ryukishi or something?
Say, fans of Ever17, did you know that 999 was written by the same person as Ever17? .

For all those who are interested, the Umineko Ep.7 full English patch has been released.
It requires the game disc or a legally downloaded copy for it to be installed. So I guess you're out of luck if you pirated it.
^_^ I knew the first sentence (it's what gave me the idea to save up the money), the second sentence was relatively new information barring a few guesses and some posts I had read on AnimeSuki forums and forgot about soon after XD

But, yeah, if that's the case, Comiket is held, what? January? ^_^ If it's that soon then I'll just change my plans to purchase Ep4.

Either way, Umineko WILL be mine. I love the games WAY too much to not do so. ..... -_- Just... have to save up the damn money. Also, I am still trying to decide which version I want: to go the easy route and get the downloadable version, but BUT I WANT TO A HARDCOPY DISC!! ........ :(

... BTW, I looked on the website the other day to "purchase ep 4" just to see what was what with it and it looked as if it were still asking for yen. S-so... how does that work? I still just insert my bank card info and things are automatically converted from dollar to yen?

<_< Tch, I still so want a hardcopy disc, but... the cheaper price... T-T
..... I will at least be able to burn it onto my own CD, right?

Well, since my brain will be aching from Umineko spoilers in a few hours, I might as well post my current theory here. Keep in mind I haven't read all of Ep.7 yet (I know what happens in it mostly, though), so you'll have to forgive me if it makes no sense.
Well, for starters, this theory supports Double Shkanon, Kyrie culprit, Jessitrice, and Shannon culprit theories all at the same time. Yeah.

Let's start out with the true identity of Yasu. Yasu is still the baby Natsuhi punted off the cliff, and is male. The fall physically crippled him, and left him unable to perform strenuous tasks (perhaps a punctured lung). Yasu, in most fragments, grows up to be who we know as Kanon.

Shannon was brought to work for the Ushiromiya family household predominantly to act as a playmate for Jessica. The two bonded, and although Shannon was a somewhat inept servant, Natsuhi still kept her around.

Years later, Yasu/Kanon is brought to the island to work as a servant. He only started now because he had only recently been able to get over his injuries and perform some manual labor. He was raised in Fukuin House mainly by Genji and Kumasawa, who raised him like a son. They got him a servant job at Rokkenjima so that he could solve the epitaph. Genji and Kumasawa pitied him, and admired his bravery in persevering through his injuries and felt like he was an appropriate successor to the headship. Yes, I realize the epitaph thing came after Kanon's job beginning, but isn't it possible Genji and Kumasawa were working on creating the epitaph with Kinzo at the time? Or something....yeah.

However, Kanon could not work his full shifts without becoming incredibly exhausted. Seeing as he would be fired if this continued, Genji and Kumasawa take advantage of Shannon's resemblance to Kanon. Of course, this being Umineko, they take it one step further. They bully/convince Nanjo to arrange an operation on Shannon. It's fairly simple: her breasts are removed. We do know Shannon to have large breasts, after all. They most likely threatened Shannon with her job (or with exposing her relationship with George; I forget when they started that) if she didn't comply. So, she did, and began to seriously hate Genji, Kumasawa, and Nanjo. You can see where this is going: when Kanon needs to rest, Shannon will pose as him and create the illusion of two servants working.

Shannon holds no ill will toward Kanon. Kanon actually feels bad for her, and so they become friends. Through their conversations, Kanon tells her that Genji and Kumasawa keep bringing up the epitaph. Shannon assumes they want him to solve it, and for the purpose of spiting them, attempts to solve it herself. She eventually succeeds, and threatens Genji with this knowledge. He tells her not to go public with this announcement, or Kanon will leave. Shannon can't harm Kanon or Jessica in that way, so she is forced to stay quiet and carry even more resentment toward the older servants.

She begins to plot to murder the Ushiromiya family. Why everyone, and not just Genji and Kumasawa? Perhaps Shannon isn't thinking rationally. She sees the Ushiromiya family as a whole as an obstacle to gaining the headship. Genji tells her that the Ushiromiya family will never accept her as the head, and because she views herself as the rightful head (and no longer a servant, so suck it, Will), convinces herself that they have to die in order to achieve this goal.

While plotting, she digs up dirt on the Ushiromiya family, predominantly through Nanjo. He feels guilt over what he had to do to Shannon, so tells her about how Kyrie and Asumu were both impregnated by Rudolf and set to give birth on the same day. Suspecting that Battler may not be Asumu's son, Shannon investigates.

How she gains her information is unclear, but it is likely that she uses the gold she found to bribe others. She learns from the hospital Kyrie gave birth at that Battler was actually her baby, and that Rudolf took him, gave him to Asumu, and told Kyrie that she had a stillbirth. However, Shannon is unable to find any information about Asumu's child (or lack thereof). It's possible that she is Asumu's child, given to Fukuin House for whatever reason, and was decided to be Jessica's playmate, so her age was lied to about...or something. It's just one way to explain Shannon's resemblance to Kanon.

Shannon arranges meetings with Kyrie while posing as Kanon. She does this mainly to keep herself safe, and to help convince her (more on that later). She tells her that she was the one who gave birth to Battler, and tells her about her plans to kill the Ushiromiya family. Taking advantage of Kyrie's jealousy, she ropes her into the plot. Kyrie's in it, of course, to terrorize Battler, resentful of his rejection of her and his being raised by Asumu. She loves Rudolf to much to kill people to frighten him, and let's face it. It's Rudolf. He's sexy.

By dressing up as Kanon, she is able to say she (as Kanon) was discarded by Rudolf as Asumu's son because of a physical deformity, and resents the Ushiromiya family because of this. She's pretty much copying Kanon's life story (which she learned from Nanjo or something).

Now, where does Jessitrice come into play in this theory? It's like Yasutrice only with Jessica, only slightly different. At age eleven, Jessica is beginning to feel the pressure of being a possible successor to the head and the current successor's daughter. She becomes stressed, as she begins to pick up on her father's financial failures, but she is forced to maintain her dignity as the daughter of Krauss, and keeps her emotions pent up inside.

So when Battler talks about what type of girl he wants, Jessica is enthralled. She, as a young girl, believes that no boy would ever want a girl like her. But she can't completely act like the girl Battler describes all the time. Sure, she can act like her, but at the same time, she is being forced to compose herself at all times and be ladylike. So, subconsciously, she creates the Beatrice personality, named after the mischievous legend, who is free to be everyone Jessica would like to be (as she knows boys can like girls like her). Because she was created out of Battler's words, Beatrice is created with a deep love for Battler.

Battler also tells Shannon that he'll come on a white pony or something, but no one cares and this is ultimately irrelevant.

Whenever Jessica sleeps at night, the Beatrice personality will sometimes awaken, and she'll go around and contribute to the legend of the witch. The whole doll thing in Ep.7 was just a prank. When Kinzo creates the epitaph, she works on solving it. It takes longer for her to solve it than Shannon, but she eventually succeeds. When she does this, she begins to identify as the with Beatrice. She solved the epitaph in the first place for two reasons: to live up to her namesake and to impress Battler.

But, at the same time, she resents Battler. She loves him so much, and is everything he would want, but he hasn't returned to Rokkenjima in years. She begins to doubt Battler's love for her, and realizes the only way he can prove his love for her is to go through what she had to go through. She decides to force Battler to solve the epitaph to simulate her 1000 year journey.

She realizes she has to come up with a plan to get Battler to solve the epitaph. She examines the document to come up with a way to do so. She decides to make Battler fear for his life, and use this fear to solve the epitaph. Just look at the last lines of the thing.

Well, one night, before Kinzo dies, Beatrice finds Kanon. She tells him to bring her to Kinzo, and keep this whole thing a secret. He takes her to his study, where the ill head is amazed, and gives her the dress and wig. He dies soon after (but not at that moment; that was pretty stupid).

Of course, Kanon initially mistook Beatrice for Jessica, so Beatrice learns that she exists in someone else's body. She begins to believe that if Battler solves the epitaph, she can be "resurrected" in her own body. With this, she gains the willingness to go through with her plan.

She retains some of Jessica's knowledge, at least when it pertains to Battler. So when Jessica learns that Battler's coming back for the family conference, Beatrice begins to plan out the murders. Kinzo, being the eccentric old dude he was, has explosives on the island, set up as a bomb that has been turned off. Basically, he saw it as a way to go out with a bang (I'm hilarious) if the family fails. Then no one can find his gold, so only a witch can find it. Beatrice turns the bomb on, and sets it to go off at the end of the second day of the family conference. She bets on the storm keeping them isolated for a day.

Beatrice is not aware of Shannon's plot, or vice versa.
...And that's my theory. Not too pretty or organized, I'm afraid. Oh, well. If this turns out to be true, I called it.
