speakers/headphones with no bass make me want to claw the faces off of babies

I don't like loud either. Bass makes sound seem louder, so I prefer not to amplify it at all.
And there's the deafness thing too. Our ears already get very little rest, so I don't like to have the volume at more than 'just enough'.

'Hecklers and cat calls'? Oh dear. What kind of neighborhood do you live in?

I like to have some external noise while listening to music, I feel like I'd miss something important if I didn't.
Clip-ons are fine for me. I had a Sony pair a while ago and they were pretty comfortable, though my ears did start to ache after a few hours. Regular headphones fall off my head and the in-ear ones are decent but they fall off my ears too much.

I'd feel very unsafe in a place like that Kino. Were you going to move elsewhere? (I'm not sure, but I recall you saying something like that)

Carry some mace in your purse, Kino. That's all I can say.
