Punching people is very romantic, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
Speaking of figurines, what would be the average cost of one?
Say I'm wandering around, and I find, say a 2 inch figurine of some little known visual novel, what would be the cost?
In that case, say I also find a Haruhi figurine of the same size nearby, how would the prices differ?
Also, what would be the difference from ordering online/shipping directly from japan?
Edit: You may factor in abiotic factors (I don't see how that would change it though.)

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
Small gachapon figures are usually pretty cheap, usually $5-$15 from my experience.
If it's little known VN, there's no guarantee that the figure exists in the first place, though.
Shipping from Japan is expensive, regardless of how tiny your item is, I remember buying a CD off Japanese amazon, the shipping was more than the CD.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
In the case of Amazon.co.jp, it's generally more cost-effective to get someone in Japan (or a proxy service) to ship it to you.
But with figurines, I'm not even sure if Amazon.co.jp lets you ship those outside of Japan. I think you can get CDs/DVDs, books, manga, and pretty much anything that isn't video games or toys/figures.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
So, I'm gonna order some figures sometime this week, but I'm having trouble which one to get.
Lucky star figurines, so, I have three choices.
These 7cm figures, all five come in a set, they are $23.95 including shipping without signature, $25.95 with signature
My next choice is getting these figurines, I believe they are about 8cm tall, and one is worth $15.95 without signature, $17.95 with signature. There is a problem with these though. They are blind packaged, and I can get any one of these figures at random.
For my last choice I thought I would just get one, nice figure to display proudly.
It is 9cm tall, and costs $48.95 without signature, $50.95 with signature. It comes with removable parts and faces!
The conflict I have though, is that the first set mentioned seem of notably less quality than the other two, not only that, but the last two are from nendroid, and I am able to look up the specifications easily on them.
But I'm also hesitant to get the large one, because it is pricey, and the random ones, well, that's obvious.
Also, is it worth it to pay that extra $2.00 on signature? Sure it's gonna ensure a strange person gets it, but who would just take a figurine they knew they didn't order? The people in my neighborhood are (seemingly) nice about those things.
I'm not one to easily make decisions my first time doing something, and would like some help with this, thanks.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
Personally, I'd go for the third option of the single, larger one. I like my figures to have higher build quality over having more of them. But what you're willing to pay for is a personal thing, I guess.
As for signature required or not, I live in a nice area and know most of the neighbours, so I'm perfectly at ease having packages dropped off at the door with no signature, since it's a pain to miss deliveries that require signatures and have to wait until a delivery is reattempted or have to go pick stuff up at a sorting facility.
If you are given a delivery date and time when you know you can be around to receive it, then I'd say just pay $2 for that extra peace of mind. But a signature requirement doesn't mean it won't be taken by some stranger. Anyone can sign for a package and the delivery person wouldn't know.

WE REQUIRE MORE MINERALS
Should have the rest of it tonight.
Re: Recent Purchases Thread
Holy moly, that is some stuff right there.
Re: Recent Purchases Thread
I see an AMD processor, it can't be that good~
Kidding aside, the Sabertooth (lol TUF) is a nice mobo. Mmm...
Reminds me, Bulldozer's delay ended up being pretty long (considering it's still not out). I need to buy one to give it some benchmarking maybe. Or I might just skip it and wait for Piledriver/Trinity, depending on how the release period pans out. My i5 is still pulling more than it's weight so it's not like I need to upgrade anytime soon. I just want to, oh so badly.
Also I feel sad for immediately recognizing the RAM :/
