Today with some gift card money from a very special friend I decided to get me some games. And since there was a buy two get one free on pre-owned games I got three:

Persona
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
Sonic Rivals

The first one is what I went after.
The other two are ones I've had my eye on for a while but was never interested enough to spend the money on them - especially Sonic Rivals which was the freebie. :3 But I've watched enough youtube videos to have kept me interested (sorta) in them. So, they are my two guilty pleasures. My "meh... if they flunk, they flunk."

Was going to get Persona 2 but they had it still at $40. Granted it was new but... I should think I could find it somewhere else by now for cheaper? If not, well... it's been sitting there for a while. I'm not overly bothered that it's going anywhere any time soon.

They really pissed me off about one thing, though. There was a game called Ys Seven that I picked up. It was that stupid gamestop box. I got up to the counter assuming that DUH it's going to be used but the guy said "It's new, you don't get the sale with this one." Eh??? "Umm... but that's not the original box art." "It's marked new." "... Is there even a manual?" "Umm, I don't think so but I can check." ....... "But... you're telling me it's NEW? What about that is NEW?" "The cartridge is new."

I let the matter drop. I don't know how much the kid is in charge of and I'm not going to take my frustration out on him about it when he's just the button pusher, but... HOW THE HELL CAN THAT BE NEW? What? They took the game out and threw away the game case AND the manual?! What the fuck!?

Ok, ok, if I apply logic... maybe someone just took up the "new" game case with booklet and asked at the counter if there was a pre-owned edition, but... what the hell... how would that work since I thought they had to scan that stupid bar to do that? o_O??????

Like I said, I didn't press the issue. Maybe there's logic somewhere, but... seriously... that's not NEW. If I get a NEW product I want the NEW game case and the NEW manual.

Newer Sonic games I can admit would be something that gamers nowadays would call a "guilty pleasure", but older Tri-Ace RPGs like Valkyrie Profile? I think not :P

I don't find newer Sonic games a pleasure of any sort. After Sonic Heroes I lost interest until Sonic Generations came out. I have heard that Colors was a step back in the right direction, too, but haven't played it yet. I lost all hope after an hour or so of Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic Knights. Bleaargh.

My favorite Sonic game is Adventure 3, because it was the first game I ever beat. I also loved Sonic Battle, and still pull those two out whenever I dust off my Gameboy and play for a while. Every time I realize there is no way I can beat the ice boss of Advance 3 and it was a miracle I ever did when I was younger.

I RARELY buy Sonic games. Honestly, I HATE the older games. I can never beat them.

And this is a short play list to begin with... Sonic 1 and Sonic 2.... (no I did not play Knuckles)

Then I have two Sonic games for my Game Gear: Sonic 2 and Sonic Triple Trouble.

I played a little bit of the first one released on Gamecube at a friend's house.... ... they started me out in one of the advance levels and I had never played a 3D Sonic before.... needless to say it didn't end well.... actually, the level started out with one of those stupid loops that you had to time right.... poor Sonic kept getting launched into space...

I didn't start liking Sonic until I purchased Sonic Advance... liked it. Wasn't so bad. Enjoyed it.

LOVED LOVED LOVED Sonic Advance 2. I fucking got EVERYTHING in that game (including Amy Rose AND I went to the trouble of getting all of HER Chaos Emeralds). I played it backwards and forwards. Got 3 and meh it didn't catch with me. I kinda felt it went below the first one's standards.

Then the next one I got was Sonic Rush Adventure. LOVED IT!!

I got Sonic Generations but our Xbox is down and I think I will absolutely love it except... my god.... what a fucking awful storyline. I feel like I'm twelve. I kinda muted it a few times when family members walked by because I was thinking "please do not insult me..."

:3 So, yeah... I have a short history with Sonic. I have watched youtube videos of Rivals and it has interested me enough to where I thought today "why the hell not..." Since I got two RPGs it's my "down time stupid play" game.

I DO want to play Sonic Colors. There was also one called Riders(?) that I wanted to give a whirl after playing a demo in a store but never got around to it.

And, obviously, I'm SO NOT interested in Sonic 4.

I like the speed elements in the games. Like obviously I don't mind the enemies, but I mean, Sonic Advance 2 had the perfect combination. Not too hard, not too easy. I died three million times but it wasn't (usually) because I went too fast. I could get some speed going and usually form a few enemy-smashing chains. Sonic Rush Adventure was fun because of the tricks that could be pulled.

I think I kinda like Sonic as a race-car game sorta thing. I hate the first Sonic games because it was too strategy. It's like "OH SONOFABITCH BECAUSE I DID NOT PRESS A NOW I'M IN THE FUCKING WATER AND GOD I HATE THE FUCKING WATER AND OH LOOK NOW I JUST GOT SMASHED BY A MOVING BLOCK... (retry) DAMMIT AGAIN! NOW I GOT KILLED BY SPIKES JUST BEFORE THE MOVING BLOCK... (retry 3) ...SAME MISTAKE.... ran out of air.... (retry 4) YES! I MANAGED TO MAKE THE RIGHT PLATFORM..... and then I died by bee-gun.... (retry 5) ... :[ missed the platform again and am back in the water................................

((did I mention I'm VERY AWEFUL at playing Sonic games???))

I haven't ever seen a copy of Advance 2. I would buy it in a second if I did, though. The various Sonic Riders are fun, but not really for single player. Buy them if you can't afford/find Mario Kart kind of thing. And I've only played Generations on the 3DS which is a totally different game than the console ones, guess I should have said that.

Another one I like is Adventure 2 Battle, because it's super extensive and loads of fun besides the Tails levels. I hate Tails. Knuckles is my favorite character besides Sonic and the classic Metal Sonic. Sonic And Knuckles is my favorite of the older games.

Also, I have this old VHS of a Sonic animated movie that is really cheesy but super awesome. I feel like watching that and playing trough some sonic games now.

I didn't like Advance 2 at all. There were times you were going so fast that you couldn't see anything. Also, getting all the special rings was quite a challenge. The 1st one felt more like a classic Sonic game.

Back then, I pretty much lost interest after Adventure, but after all these years I think I'm safe to say that Sonic Colours and Generations got everything right.

I've tried some of the 3D ones, but I though they were average at best. And Sonic 2006 still sucks and anyone defending it is...well...stupid.

Haha, Ninten, but I LOVED that rush in that game. That you COULD get up to speed and KEEP the speed. Also, actually, the special rings weren't that challenging at all, but then haha ^_^ I knew those levels like the back of my hand. I was so addicted to that game. My favorite character was definitely the rabbit with her little friend because I could just say "meh, fuck you stupid boss". She made the bosses easy so I felt compelled to play from beginning to end over and over and over and over and over again.

SA2 is probably still my favorite sonic game, Heroes and 2006 made me lose interest in playing any sonic games until Sonic 4 and Generations came out.

I liked Advance 2 and Battle a lot, I wish I still had Battle.

Cream was definitely my favorite character too, mostly just because she is charming, though.

The first Sonic game I've owned was Sonic Advanced 2!! :D
Cream is the most broken thing in the game, but you hafta play as Sonic in order to unlock new characters D:
Colors and Generations were AMAZING compared to '06 (Well then again, everything wasssss)
