Re: Recent Purchases Thread

Birthday splurge! Akadot sent me a coupon, and with their weekly newsletter they were like, B-T-DUBS YO, CHECK IT: DEVIL'S SECRET RESTOCKED and I commenced in inarticulate squealing because, duh, Hinako Takanaga, hella fucking out of print (and has been for, like, 4 goddamn years) -- the ONLY title by her that's licensed for the US that I didn't own. BAM! COLLECTION COMPLETE!

Anyway.

Eagerly anticipating the following to arrive in the mail:

My brain might overload with awesome.

I find the titles of these series interestingly amusing XD

Punching people is very romantic, and don't let anybody tell you otherwise.

I don't know. Maybe it's because I've not played those original levels but I LOVED the 2D Sonic stages in the game - not that I got far before the system broke, but I'm going to disagree with your statement here. I had more trouble with the damn 3D levels.

On the 3DS version some levels are 2D and some are more 2.5, and it works out great. I prefer the 2.5 ones, which surprised me.

@Yuna

I know, right? There's some really bizarre ones out there. "The Tyrant Falls in Love" has one of my favorite titles ever (in addition to being my favorite yaoi manga ever) -- because Souichi, the "Tyrant" first made his appearance in Challengers, where he plays the poor Tomoe's tyrannical, homophobic older brother. So I think it's cute that, when he gets his own spin-off series, the title tells you immediately what's happening... Of course, it's at, what, 8+ volumes? I am totally okay with that. The world needs more Takanaga, especially her Souichi, who is ... just ... GAH. Tsundere overload.

Also The Devil's Secret I totally wouldn't get except for the fact it's Hinako Takanaga, and I'm rather obsessed with her. Just saying.

@Trifkin

It's a pretty fantastic order, if I say so myself! I can't wait.

Incidentally I just checked the tracking information on my last Powell's order, so, when I get home today I'll have the following waiting for me:

By the same mangaka who did Right Here, Right Now, which I liked a lot

Because it's set in an all-boy's school dorm... and I love that setting.

Artist of Kyo Kara Maoh... and I like her art.

?? Am I the only one who enjoyed the 2D sonic parts in that game? :( Aww well...

:3 So I got into playing Sonic Rivals. Not much - like not very far at all but... :3 I am in love with it. And while shopping today I saw on a game shelf Sonic Colors and decided to purchase it, too (why the hell not... it was only for $17 and I had a little money left on my gift card).

LOVE IT!! Didn't get very far in it, either. Though I think so far that it's a bit TOO easy - but it's ridiculously FUN (and fast) so... who the fuck cares. :3 I'm sure the levels will intensify and my suckiness will start to show through eventually.

^_^ Good. It's not that I care really about whether it was 3D or 2D but just that the 2D tracks just seemed so much more fun to me (and I didn't suck half as bad at them).

Dislike classic sonic games.

:3 My GOD. I've actually determined after hours of playing both games today, that I'm more in love with Sonic Rivals than I am with Sonic Colors. Though, don't get me wrong. I love them both intensely. But there's something about Rivals that just STAYS fun. A lot of the worlds in Colors gets a little bit too... puzzley... and I"m not sure I like the whole wisp thing.

On the other hand I LOVE that I am racing someone in Rivals and that while 8/10 times I LOSE it's still an exciting element, and the worlds are intensely fun and I can get up to speed and STAY up to speed. And while in Colors each world gets more and more puzzley, Rivals just gets more fun with the tracks :3

I get the feeling that Sonic Rivals 2 is in my future.
