Re: Recent Purchases Thread
You know... @$%#^$ KANGAROOS!!
Moreso than the FOEs in the labyrinth (and bears), I find that I'm being more alarmed by the FOEs in the Overworld. >_< Damn Kangaroo has taken me out TWICE now.
:O JUST WAIT UNTIL I GET LEVELED UP!! YOU AND YOUR KIND ARE GOING DOWN, ASSHOLES!!
----
My GOD I want to spend the $6 to get Link's Awakening so bad... damn eShop... why the fuck does it still take out only certain dividends except what I want to pay into it?! Why do I have to pay $10 for a $6 game?! Not that I have the $6 even right now... :3 But I will.... eventually...
My God I haven't played that game in YEARS.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
You can actually click on "pay needed funds" or something similar when buying on the eshop. It should be in the bottom right corner when selecting the amount.

Link's Awakening... last time I played that, it was on an old brick. Great game.
Should actually play better on the 3DS than other titles. I find on sidescrollers, the circle pad receives undesired inputs (so you may crouch when trying to go left/right), while the d-pad is a bit stiff.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
I wish they had flipped the d-pad and circle pad placements. I'm use to the circle pad being lower from playing on the PSP - and I like the placement being lower since it felt better in my hand. I agree, though, the D-pad feels stiff, but then again, so was the DS when I first purchased it. It will wear in or I will get use to it. I'm not bothered.
I can't comment yet on the d-pad since I've not used it much for this game, so I dunno about the responsiveness.
Also: now this might just be me, but the touch screen is TOO touchy. But then, I'm also use to using a DS that was pre-scratch-proof days. Still, I find the stylus slippery - and I HATE HATE HATE the placement of the stylus. I'm use to quickly taking the stylus out and putting it back in when I get attacked. The least they could have done is put the stylus on the right hand side - since, you know, most of us are right-handed. Meh, I'm getting use to it, though. I've memorized where the hole is and am now able to just reach back and slip the stylus in - without closing the stylus - as a temp-hold thing until the battle is over.
One of the sadder detracts I've noticedso far in the system is the backwards compatibility. It seems to make up for slight pixelation when playing the DS games, they opted to blur things down a little. I only popped in the first EO game, though, so I can't speak for all games, but it was rather poor quality.
Things I do like: the sound system. How easy it is to open it. The Home key suspend feature. The manual feature (I was ten seconds away from taking the game back and yelling at Game Stop when I discovered no manual in the gamebox XD ). And that I can adjust brightness mid-game. And the SOUND SYSTEM seems better than the DS - at least the volume is of a higher magnitude O_O; damn it can get loud. And the placement of all the buttons and the new LR buttons.
... Except I don't like that it's slightly fat, but I say that and then I have to acknowledge that the extra width makes it nicer for holding.
Did I get everything LOL?
@Link's Awakening: I played it on the brick and on the slightly smaller brick. ^_^ A part of me still wishes that they were offering the black and white version of the game. I dunno. The colors were very nice, but I just felt that it lost some of the game's mysterious-atmosphere when they put it in color.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
Pretty busy myself. I probably won't get a chance to touch it until next week, but I'll let you know my impressions here when I do.
Re: Recent Purchases Thread
Ha ha. Let me know how it is as well.
Technically I got it the moment it was out since I already had it installed and patched, though I just can't bring myself to play RTS these days. Last one I played was WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos.
From what I have heard, the single player is a lot of fun but short (Brutal difficulty cleared in 12~ hours).
Multiplayer is a lot of fun, as a spectator. Seems to be more forgiving for the most part and there are more ways to get back into the game at a supply deficit. Units like the Oracle and the new Medivacs are the exception, which are rather punishing if you are too greedy. Zerg seems to be the most unchanged out of the three. New units are mostly good, but there are no significant core changes as there were for Protoss and Terran, especially in the early game, where the only change is tier 1 Burrow and not needing Evolution Chambers for Spore Crawlers. Viper, Mothership Core and Battle Hellion are all interesting units.
The UI improvements and soundtrack are nice additions as well. Being able to watch replays with friends or resume from any point in a replay are welcome changes, albeit the former is not anything new. Speaking of UI improvements, I have already seen some cool custom UIs.
