Is your router security set to WPA or WEP? Because the DS isn't compatible with WPA.

I think DSi does WPA but not WPA2, and 3DS does both. You have to use certain slots in the WiFi setup though. IIRC the first three can't handle WPA or something.

Nintendo should take a look at Sony's handhelds for wireless and copy that. I've had a lot of WiFi trouble with all my Nintendo handhelds, but none with my Sonys.

My problem is my dad won't let me change the wifi settings "just for a game" so I can't at home, and nowhere else is practical

Get your own ISP subscription and WiFi? Then you can change the settings to anything you want.

My Wii won't connect at all. The only thing I haven't tried is changing the router channel or whatever
