I've met the author/writer of that and got him to sign things.
I'm not crazy about Empowered though, but maybe I should give it another chance...

It gets better as it goes.
Re: Recent Purchases Thread
You should read Livewires by him. It's only 6 issues and it's really cool, it's all robots and explosions and blackops shit. I'll give Empowered another go soon.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
I already read Livewires, it's the main reason I read Empowered in the first place.
Re: Recent Purchases Thread
Oh I thought you hadn't gotten around to it, have we talked since you read it?

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
*grins widely* Holy shit today was such an epic awesome day and it all started yesterday.
My sister makes these little projects that she sales at craft shows and flea markets. Yesterday she asked me if I would help make some with her and I was like "... can I make some money off of it?"
She was like "Sure! Whatever you make you get the profits, I just ask that you give me a $1 from each one for the cost of materials."
Since she sells them $6 for each or $10 for two, I'd be making anywhere from $4-$5 per one I made. Not big money of course, but, fuck >_> every little bit helps and it turns out they were fun to make! I ended up making 24 of them. Obviously thinking and hoping "I hope they sell... especially next to hers..."
XD I ended up selling 16 of them! Which is DAMN good. ^_^ Most people bought mine and not hers (we didn't let people know they were segregated in any way and that they were benefiting either one of us - we just sat them on the table and had our own organization system to keep track of profits).
It was a BIG sale day, too. We sold quite a few. Normally she only sales a handful herself.
With all profits accounted for (my half for the entry fee and for some foods that I bought) I came out with $57.
:} Guess what I did with that money....
Today was a FUCKING AWESOME DAY - though I'm very tired now - and even came home and helped to work on the project some more. This time, though, we struck a deal. She's got a big event coming up and needed to make a LOT of them - but the proceeds have to go to book money so she couldn't let me join in on this one... until I struck a deal with her to help for $20.
^_^ It's nice to get some extra pocket money and this is for PURE leisure. Seriously, though... I only hoped when I woke up at 4am this morning to go that I would at least make $20.
... The sad part is... I'm a little too tired to really start playing the game. ^_^;; *sigh* I've barely gotten through the opening....
Edit: To elaborate cuz I didn't want to ruin the pace of my story... the crafts project:
This is what she makes. ^_^; We have to crack open the lightbulbs (yes, they are real lightbulbs... safety glasses required) and then make them with the variety of materials she has bought. I didn't even fuss with the stickers she puts on them sometimes. And then we stick bamboo in them.
x_x Opening the lightbulbs is hardwork, but making the colors and such is a lot of fun. ^_^;; It's... funny to see the Lowe's cashier ringing up the multitude of lightbulbs my sister purchases. The bamboo she orders offline in bulk for decent pricing. It's amazing the amount of work she has put into this.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
I had a lot of fun at GaymerX, in no small part because of a really awesome cooperative card game I was introduced to on Sunday. A friend and I ended up playing it for half our time at the con that day. We split the cost so we could get the both base game and the first two expansions.
By the way, a funny thing you can do with perspective:
Not pictured because I've misplaced it: a Franklin Badge pin.

Aww, Maxine. <3 I'm so glad you had what sounds like an amazing day. ^_^
Sorry I missed GaymerX this year, Reynard! D: Perhaps next year.

^_^;; Yeah... except both me and my sister are now paying for our amazing day. Wouldn't you believe that we have BOTH come down with a cold... same symptoms and all. *sigh* We're a mess.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
I found a complete run of Y: The Last Man in an old bookstore in Montanna. I never thought I'd own it all, it's around 200 bucks to get it all here. I paid 40. It's widely considered one of the best comics ever made, right up there with Watchmen and Sandman ect.
Also it's by the guy who wrote Runaways, which I looove.
I'm so entirely stoked to own this masterpiece.

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
This party sucks. x_x
Uggg... I slept all yesterday after work and all last night but I still feel like I could go twenty more hours. x_x I hope today is nice and easy at work. Thankfully I'm usually put in backdrive just taking orders. That's all their getting out of me today. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll send me home early (there's like a 1% chance of that actually happening - the odds are not in my favor).

Re: Recent Purchases Thread
Picked up Tales of Xillia and Dragon's Crown today.
My copy of Mischief Makers should be arriving today as well.
