Yeah, Blue Planet: Seas of Life is really awesome. They sell it with Planet Earth, but it's like $94 or something. I've seen most of it, though, and it's really cool. I'm most interested in land animals -- Seasonal Forest is my favorite Planet Earth episode.

Shockingly relevant?!
Found this (but in paperback) at the used bookstore today. It looks super interesting, and the annotated bibliography in the back is drool-worthy. There are some fantastic diagrams and photographs, although since the copy I got is quite old they're in black and white. It covers the development of cities from Mesopotamia and Egypt right on up past the second World War, with particular highlights of the Hellenic and Medieval city-state model. <3
I'm terribly excited to add it to my collection.
