I bought the player's guide for Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver...
my work did not get any copies of the actual game in, despite the release date being Sunday. I told everyone of my HUGE NERD RAGE. Oh well.

Today I found my order from in my mailbox. Honestly, it ought to be a crime not to sell all these über-cute phone straps outside Japan.
Here's what I got:
Mikan, Ringo, Budou and Nadeshiko-Omanju.
Rilakkuma and Kamonohashikamo (translates as 'platypus/duckbill duck'?) from San-X.
Anteater, capibara, elephant, fox, dolphin and turtle.
Seriously, an anteater and a capibara. I just had to get those
Panda (different make than the others).
Small engraved wooden tag with my name in hiragana.
Not sure if it's the wood or the engraving process, but this tag has a really strong smoky wood smell. It's not exactly bad, just very strong.
Now I just need to figure out which ones to put on which device..

The other day I bought new clothes. I bought a grey jumper dress, a grey skirt, a black bolero, a purple bolero, and a plain white shirt.

Just pre-ordered SMT: Strange Journey. Backstory is here:
In the past, Amazon has not been terribly punctual about shipping pre-orders, though. I don't think I'll be too bummed if it happens this time since I haven't been chomping at the bit for it and I've got plenty of other games to wrap up.
Anyway, this will be my first SMT. I'm looking forward to it! The only other planned purchases for the year are a DSi XL (burgundy), the EO3 soundtrack, and EO3 when it arrives.

I've used Amazon pretty much exclusively for a few years and all my pre-orders ship the day it releases (Release-Day shipping ships the day or two before).

That's good news. Thanks for the heads-up!
The last thing I pre-ordered from Amazon was Knights in the Nightmare, so it has been a while and maybe I was just unlucky that time. The occasion before that was EO2, and in that case I ended up canceling the pre-order three days or so after the release date and picked it up at Gamestop.

I will say that I have/use Amazon Prime (usually bouncing through free trials) so that may be due to the Free Two-Day shipping. I know their Free Shipping takes forever to process but, hey, it's free.
If you can, I'd try starting a Prime trial (probably can find a way to boost it to three months instead of one) and use that. Anything ordered/pre-ordered during the trial time will still ship Two-Day even if they ship well after the Trial expires (my last trial expired like ... half a year ago but my XIII and Resonance of Fate both shipped Release Day and Two-Day for free).

Ah, I think that could be the big differentiator between your experience and mine.
That's an excellent idea about the possibility of a three month trial. I don't think one month would be worth the effort (or, I'll admit it, "perceived" effort), but three months would be cool.
I'll look into it; thanks! You're a wealth of knowledge, Scy.

If you can't, the one month isn't too bad if you know in advance what you want and pre-order them now (no payment now only charged when it ships; just need to remember to cancel anything you eventually change your mind on). Plus, there's a few ways around the system (log out, try to start new trial, log back in) if needed.
Canceling is a one-click process under Your Account settings as well.

I prefer getting books from local physical bookstores when I can, but some stuff is easier to obtain online at Amazon.
Bought yesterday (physical store downtown):

By the same author of Pride & Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
I believe they're making P&P&Z into a movie as well.
