So, the ending to Change123 was pretty disappointing.
While I realize that "not having multiple personalities" is supposed to be a good thing, in this case I can't help but feel upset. All three of the alternate personalities were much, much better characters than the main one, and could already worked together almost seamlessly. Honestly, I preferred the part where her main personality had vanished entirely, as heartless as that may be.
In case of implosion, look directly at implosion.
Browsing through my manga collection and saw Ichigo 100%. Wondered what Mizuki Kawashita was up to since Hatsukoi Limited and came across Anedoki. It's short (3 volumes + "Sequel", which is either a teaser of ... a sequel or just a three page resolution) and it was pleasant. I guess I'm just a fan of her art, though it's still as fanservice laden as ever.
Rather typical work from her, though with the better Ichigo 100% pairing in terms of visuals ([hide]fffff I hated Tsukasa[/hide]). Though knowing her she probably planned for this to be longer than 26 chapters but dwindling popularity had it end "early." At most, a few more chapters would've sufficed as it doesn't need to be this 50985082 volume monstrosity of "JUST. FUCK. THEM. ALL. ALREADY."
And, yes, somehow that still didn't really spoil anything.
I'm not sure how keen I am on the whole "BYE WE'LL SEE AGAIN IN FOUR YEARS" bit. I mean, it's pretty typical and cliche and a trope of love everlasting but christ, why didn't it just end with him ... staying? I think that was a better overall thing than the whole leaving and returning after 4 years and hoping they still want to [s]fuck like rabbits[/s][s]be in a boy-girl relationship[/s]fuck.
Then again, I guess she had in mind the whole "returning to where they first met" as the ending and culmination of the entire confession thing ... though, there was the whole "it's no longer a vacant lot!" bit with them building some kind of building at the bridge so why the fuck is it a bridge over a stream in the 4 years later arc? :/ Random nitpick, I suppose. Shit, it might not even be the same bridge. I think I just got suckered into the story by the cute intro pages which is why the ending was so cute (though, ice cream became popsicle).
Incidentally, his whole size thing seemed ridiculously exaggerated in the final few chapters. I never really thought of him as being like a whole foot+ shorter than Natsuki but that's what it looks like the in the pre-timeskip finale. Though, I guess that's why a timeskip was necessary ... her being 21 and him 17 is not as strange as her 17 and him 13.
So yeah, it rushes through a bit fast near the end. Some more time spent elaborating on Natsuki's past and why she's happier now than before would've been all that it really needed. Instead, we get a picture montage of "oh, she used to be so sad" juxtaposed with "now she's genki girl" to rocket through backstory.
And, shit, I'm kind of curious of 17 and 18 year old Kanade and Chiaki, though they both really seemed to exist merely to provide love triangle/square for padding. Go the Pastel route of it being just the two of them plus the occasional guest appearance of side characters to drive the plot rather than extra characters to drag on the plot.
Then again, Pastel is somehow like 27 volumes long and still going so perhaps that's a fucking terrible example (HOW THE FUCK IS IT 27 VOLUMES? [hide]THE CONFESSION WAS LIKE 20 VOLUMES AGO, WHAT ARE THEY STILL DOING[/hide]).
Edit: Kano Yasuhiro (Pretty Face, Mx0) has a new manga serialization starting it sounds like? God I hope it isn't cut short like Pretty Face (eh...it was getting a bit long, I suppose) and Mx0 (y u no like it Japaaaaaan).
I want my fucking Hiraagi and Kuzumi resolution you assholes.

I read random cute romance one-shots to make me feel better. I don't quite know why. >>
I'm still saddened that, as far as I know, a lot of these one shots are from mangaka who have literally done nothing besides them. Aaaaaaaa, why :/ Or some that have some really short manga that never really took off (Takarada Iyo's Dakedo Happy Paradise and Michi to no So Good spring to mind, but I think I more just liked the art a lot for a one-shot deal).
On a side note, I started re-reading Skip Beat. I'm not sure why, really, but I suppose I really just like all the acting bits so damn much (Kyoko's Natsu is still probably the best next to her Mio, though I never really got far into the recent arc's Setsu).

Perhaps.
Re-reading a short manga: Ann Cassandra. Sad it only made it to two volumes since it was a relatively interesting plot.
Basically: A boy that sees the future in a notebook; he fights against fate to find a way to break his own. A girl that sees calamities in the mirror; she has surrendered herself to fate. One day, they meet and the wheel of fate begins to move...
Could've been stretched a bit longer and not have overstayed it's welcome. Sadness. Profoundly so.
In a term, "Prediction destruction" is the theme. The chains of fate that bind the world are not certainty ... or are they?
