Getting her to talk right now is like pulling teeth (how fitting; I'm the son of a dentist... >_>;;). How she and I deal with things are totally different. I prefer the straight-forward talk and then the space. Not the space and then sudden forgiveness.

STORY TIME!!

I get off work and this is what was explained to me by mom (and you'll note at the end how there are several ? about it all and some ? where I just don't understand the details)

Oh, wait, but first, how about a prologue:
The asshole was going to leave today for like four days to go spend Xmas with his parents. Him and my sister were going to exchange gifts today. Lately, he has been pissing her off and yesterday she confided in us that she believes he is using again and she's feeling the end is coming near.

Ok, here we go....

Mom's Story:
Nate had Tia's car while she was at work (and her cellphone). He was running some errand Tia gave him permission for (something about paycheck?). Anyways, apparently he bought some drugs and was high when Tia's car (?) gets a flat tire. He is "trying" to fix it when a cop comes up and tells Nate to try to get the car off the road (?). Nate gets in the car while the car is still on the jackstand and drives it (I guess this is POSSIBLY how the car got scratched and damaged and there's something about the bumper being off, but... sounds to me there's a little more damage to the car than this incident has caused).

ANYWAYS, whatever happened, the cop investigates some more and arrests him for being high and having drugs on him. Tia's car and cellphone are confiscated, naturally of course.

I found out later that apparently the cop had told Dad and Tia that Nate was high. Anyways, I gather from Tia and Nate's fight that Tia didn't tell Nate that the cop told her this since he was saying "he arrested me for no license." I guess she was trying to get him to confess. Not that he needed to - even I could tell he was still flying high.

Anyways, Tia doesn't want him back in the house. There was a long fight about what to do with him today and tomorrow. Anyways, he's leaving tomorrow and HOPEFULLY not returning.

?? The cops released Nate saying they were going to mail him the charges (I dunno how this thing works but I thought that if you were arrested for drugs - that's it. You're in jail. They didn't even ask for bail money or anything).



Sorry, I'm cutting it short and sweet here since i'm being called away, sorry I rushed it there at the end.

So, my friend finally talks as to why she's ignoring me. We're separated by two states, so naturally, I look forward to talking with her. After trying for two weeks, I decide to finally get agressive.

The long story: Why she got annoyedwith my whining was because around the time she went to college, we boh hit a rough spot in our relationship. We had just broken up and my brother's drug problems were going further to hell. I had no real outlet, and occassionally, I just had to tell her what was going on here.

To be honest, she's being unfair with that whole DA thing. Yes, I found them through her, but I also got to know them all. I met a lot of them on her Livestream stuff.

I feel like sort of a crybaby for almost crying. ; o ; Our one friend is caught in the middle of this all, and I keep apologizing. I just hat everyone taking the girl's side of things. It's like court: the man is BONED everytime. I suppose I do fail for not picking up on the signals, but she exagerrated about the 10 minutes thing... I only tried talking to her intervals of several hours... Plus, I also assumed she was busy. Then she was talking to this other friend and I got TOTALLY left out of the loop.

Pretty much I am getting the shaft...

Not sure what the law is in PA, but in a lot of states, provided you're a resident of that state, if you get picked up for drugs or drunk driving, or stuff like that and it wasn't related to violence or theft or something of that variety they hold you until you're "sober" and then release you on your "Own Recognizance". Rather than holding you until you can post monetary bail, being released on your own recognizance means that you're agreeing that you owe the state something, and that you'll be seeing them in court. Its often used in place of bail, and generally only for residents, because if you live in Florida and you get picked up in Pennsylvania, they can't really guarantee that you'll stick around long enough for your day in court, and that becomes a huge mess (dealing with inter-state jurisdiction).

It seems stupid, given the scumbag we're discussing, but one of the wonderful things about this country is that everyone gets their day in court. So being caught in possession of drugs or under the influence of drugs doesn't just get you stuck in jail. In fact I don't think they can charge you with anything for being simply under the influence, save maybe public intoxication, unless you try to operate a vehicle, which he did. Thankfully though, drug and alcohol cases wherein the defendant was picked up while under the influence are pretty cut and dry. For being under the influence they simply urine, breath, or blood test you, record the result, and charge you with driving under the influence. For possession its all based on the particular drug and the amount. I don't know what drug we're talking about here, but something as minor as marijuana is only a petty offense in some states, whereas in other states its a felony. And it depends on the amount, if its a small amount its possession, but if its a large amount its intent to distribute, and again, the amounts vary from substance to substance. And again, thats pretty cut and dry. Did he have substance X: Yes. Did he have an amount that is considered criminal: Yes. So even though he gets his due process by having time out of holding and having a set court date and a defense and what have you, the crimes are pretty clear. He'll almost certainly serve time, or be assessed some pretty serious fines, or both. The severity of which all depend on the judge, and what the state has set as its minimums, most states have similar charges to what you'd see for drunk driving, probably fines up in the thousands of dollars ($2000-5000 wouldn't be surprising), a toss up between jail time or community service, or both, definite license suspension for like a year, and probably some sort of required class. Oh and probation!

tl;dr: The dude is outright fucked.

I was originally supposed to get out at 10:30PM today, but they extended me to 1:00AM, because

A. the other restaurant closed early, even though it wasn't raining as much, so we need to close later

B. someone who was closing called in sick

C. the guy who would have been closing didn't want to do it alone (I've done it alone plenty of times it's not hard it just takes a long time rrgh)

SO I didn't really mind any of this. But when it was getting into the later hours, I kept telling him to close down this empty cash register pod, and he just kind of stood there. So I ended up doing that myself just to pass the time, once there were no customers.

So then it's actual closing time, and I'm closing down another pod (we put the big racks of desserts in a storage room, stock the drawers with receipt tape and stuff, and wipe down the counter top) while he counts his money. All that's left to do is wipe down the last pod, stock the drawers, clean the sink, and wipe off some mirror. I decide I'm going to take lost and found to the main office since that takes the longest, and I tell him to do those things in the mean time so it will all be done when I get back and we can just leave.

I get back, and he fucking left after he did his cash! He didn't do ANY of his closing duties.

And apparently, the team lead AND the manager both thought he had already done everything when they let him leave, so they let the night custodians come in and get in the way of the shit I ended up needing to do.

I'm pissed off about doing the extra work. I'm pissed off because they let him leave without doing anything.

Oh, and for some reason I didn't get paid.
