The more I view the battery, the less I give a shit. I rarely actually play on the go so it's an irrelevant issue to me 99% of the time. I broke my DS Lite hinge recently but it's not really a huge issue so ... dunno. Just kind of watching my 3DS pre-order and contemplating what to do with it. I'll probably cancel it since no launch titles worth a damn.

Holy shittttt

Just about/narrowly avoided getting my ass kicked by a total douche last period. Will rant about it later.

Kind of rattled my nerves, it's been over and hour and I'm all messed up still.... Feel like shit.

Alright, you know what, I just... kinda want to get this out of my system because it really is pissing me off.

I took Visual Basic Studio with one teacher who knew what the fuck he was doing, and ironically a lot of people insulted him and hated him because he actually expected us to do work and took off points for things like improper labeling.

Now I have this one teacher for ASP.net which is the continuation of that class that is a fucking newbie. While I don't mind him being a newbie, we are in mid-semester now and you wanna know what we are discussing?

Error handling.

That's right. Error handling.

Oh it's a great topic to be sure. Code validations, how the debugger works in VB, Try/Catch codes - umm... I ALREADY KNOW THIS SHIT!!!

HOW ABOUT YOU TEACH US SOMETHING LIKE CONNECTING TO A FUCKING SQL DATABASE?!

CUSTOM USER CONTROLS? THAT'S WHAT YOU SPEND A WHOLE CLASS PERIOD TEACHING US? Fucking IDIOT. Sure, he's a great guy and his homework assignments are simple and shit and his tests are an absolute JOKE, but... I WANT TO DO SOME PROGRAMMING!!!

>_< He's just seriously going through and teaching us all the controls and shit we have access to. This is stuff we learned in the last class. And you know, I honestly don't even know what to do. I DON'T WANT TO FUCKING SHELL OUT ANOTHER $300+ FOR THIS CLASS!! And what's worse is a few students are in there that are all like "well... we haven't taken a class in this for a while so... this is fine."

>_< We are midway into the semester and I have learned absolutely NOTHING. And I'm pissed about it. I'm seriously thinking of e-mailing one of my teachers and asking them if there are any kind of options that might be open to me to argue this and get my money back or SOMETHING.

Do his lessons match the course syllabus?

Unfortunately, yes, which is what is so absolutely aggravating. I knew about this from the get-go that a lot of review would be being done but IT'S MID-SEMESTER!

x_x; GRRRR

According to the Course Outline, after this we should be heading into waters that I'm unfamiliar with. So maybe I just got to stick with it a little longer and be patient.

It's just incredibly insulting negz. x_x 4 hours wasted on learning custom user controls (didn't know how to do, granted, but did we need to waste an hour and half on them?!) and then the rest is Error handling. I could see if it's the validations and the things that are special to the website building half of VBStudios, but... :( My homework is to type out a Try/Catch statement. Are you kidding me?!! IT'S INSULTING!! T-T

If you didn't know how to do it, it's not a waste now is it?

2 hours of my life for two lines of codes and a button click to create a "custom form" page is a waste, but *sigh* you're right, and I'm sure once I get through this stupid homework assignment I'll feel a LITTLE better next week about the class. I just need to take a deep breathe. If at the end of this semester I come away without knowing certain things (all of the things I want to know are listed on the syllabus) I'll put in a major complaint. Still, I just wish I had waited and gotten the other teacher for this class.

That sucks Maxine. Personally, I'm still trying to adjust to my new course. Apparently, they think that once you're at Diploma level you don't need a teacher at all; at the start of the year they give you all the resouces you need (tutorials, textbooks etc) and a disk with a few thousand activites on it, then expect you to show up and just work through it and your major project (I'm making a website for my uncle's business).

Sure, every now and again, the teacher pipes up to hand you an assignment or tell you when something is due, but for the most part we are left to figure everything out for ourselves. Considering I paid $1000 to enroll in this course and ~$200 for texbook/resource fees I kind of expected, I don't know, something more than I could do at home on the net for free.

Right now I'm going through a bunch of PHP stuff (funnily enough, I was going through how to connect to an SQL Database with PHP yesterday) and whilst not exactly hard, I am getting a little mixed up at times since I haven't touched a scripting language besides Javascript for over a year.

It's unfair to insult the teacher for following the schedule... which was established in advance... which you accepted by enrolling in the course. I can understand your frustration at the pace if you feel the amount of review is unnecessary, but if the course is on schedule, then you guys will eventually get to the material you're interested in.

Initially, your complaint that it was already mid-semester confused me given that you knew the sequence of material from the syllabus. But perhaps I assumed incorrectly that the syllabus specified the schedule down to the hour/session. If it does not contain that level of detail, then you may have a case for complaining to the department for overly long review. Otherwise, you don't.

Hm, I would check with the registrar of your college to see what sorts of options they have regarding dissatisfaction with the course, I guess.

(Not that it matters at this point in the semester, but) schools often allow withdrawal without penalty within the first couple of class sessions to allow students to assess the course and instructor before fully committing (and also to allow for conflict resolution, transfers and waitlist shifting.) I'm not sure what the policy is for your particular school.

Anyway, I do hope you get to the new stuff soon. At least according to your outline it's coming up next. :)
