Perhaps consider replacing it with the similar and equally eloquent term of "Vatican Assassin" instead.

Oh, I know you weren't, don't sweat it. I just know it is a sore spot for her and quite a few other trans people I know. People don't always realize they do it, but it can offend.

[spoiler]How are you supposed to refer to transsexual people when describing them in their pasts...when they weren't identifying as a different gender? Or rather, how do they describe themselves? I'm more just interested to know since if said transsexual person identified as male during, say, the first eighteen years of her life but started identifying as female after that, how would they regard themselves? And what would they think?
