I could block banner ads, but some of those cost money! It's kind of weak of me to say this but I feel better at least glancing at them. I still block pop-ups, though. I find them to be incredibly rude.

Any sort of texting during public participation should result in instant execution. It is not only incredibly rude but you're bringing everyone down and irritating those around you with that infernal ticking noise just so you can spread gossip. If you want to text on your break or at home lounging around, fine. But don't be at the front of a service desk tapping away. I hate mobile devices to no end.

In general, mobile devices are okay. I mean, even the DSi can be seen as one. If I'm at the hospital waiting, it's really nice to have. Sure I might be 2 seconds late because I have to put it away but it's such a minor tribulation to have as something to ease me during the several hour-long waiting time, especially considering it's just an alternative to reading a nearby magazine. That is a situation where it's fine. But when it comes to people actually DEPENDING ON MY PRESENCE OF MIND then doing that would be entirely unacceptable in my opinion. What I'm trying to say is it's a beautiful gift that's unfit for humanity until they can smarten up.

My doctor laughed at me once for playing Trauma Center in the exam room why waiting for him. I showed him what I was playing and then let him try a level.

I had a similar situation when mother took my DSi to play Dr. Mario Express. She made the specialist wait so she could finish a level. Then they were both talking about how addictive Dr. Mario is and how they used to play it ages ago.

Working with other writers on the same level of power is /argh. It is not like I don't explain things enough and I'm not some sort of ignorant elitist. The inability to see the big picture and realize the flaws with every single step they take at my side just slows down production. Now if they are working below or above me, it's not so bad. Then I don't need to carry them and double the production time. I wonder how some of these people get their books published.

Flashbacks are very dangerous. Please do not use them if you do not know what you are doing. Some mediums like comics can dedicate a series or even just a single issue to past events. That doesn't mean you should drag people down with past events in novels and other stories. If you want to do this with film or theater, you need to be very careful and I'd argue that it's best done at the beginning. Writing is not one-size-fits-all.
