@Unitarians: My best friend, his family, and his wife are all unitarians, and in my experience they've all been very nice welcoming people. They seem to have a pretty serious focus on community, and they all seem to know each other in the Washington/Oregon area. They do tend to be very liberal though, so if thats a problem you may not feel very comfortable, but you might try looking into it anyway.
@Education/Knowledge of Christianity: If you're local college offers a course in Christian History (Not a theology course, a history course), I would recommend it if you ever get the chance. Most people who call themselves Christians haven't the faintest idea what they're supposed to believe or even what the core teachings of Christ were. And damned if they're going to follow them if they don't match up with their lifestyles. Most people also have no idea how many Christian beliefs were formed by committee in the middle ages, based on pretty heavy interpretation of the Bible, or that Biblical literalism is actually a fairly recent phenomenon. A lot of protestants also like to ignore everything before the reformation because that's just "catholic stuff". The point is, most people have a seriously deficient understanding of Christianity, and how it got to be the way it is, so you have no reason to feel bad, just seek to educate yourself on it, and find out if its actually what you agree with.

Re: Rant/Complain Thread: QQ moar
No. I agree with the "I won't follow X but I'll follow X because it fits in my life." I don't think that's right. However, I do feel that it's ok to not follow X but follow X because it doesn't fit in with their moral belief.
The bible (supposedly, I've never seen the section myself) says gays are wrong. I don't like that. So, this is an X I will cross out.
The bible says *insert ten commandments* which I totally like and feel that I should struggle to do my utmost to follow.
However, I'm also not well bible-versed, either. My knowledge consists of a thousand and one retellings of Noah, Moses, and Jesus doing this or that - things I call "sunday school knowledge" but I've never seriously read the bible. To be completely honest one of the things I feel is that I've not really been told what IS expected of me in a religious manner.
However, I do have my own views and just because some group of scholars sat down to write a bunch of stories that got stuffed and passed down through the ages as a bible says I should or shouldn't do something doesn't mean I'm going to listen.
It's kinda like The Constitution of America. Soooo many years ago a group of people got together and wrote down a bunch of do's and don't's. However, the world of then is not the same as the world of now and because of that there have been many Amendments added and the thing has evolved over time.
This is how I view the Bible. As a Constitution that unfortunately no one has been smart enough to add in necessary amendments to or at least CLARIFY.
I dunno. That's how I feel with my limited education and knowledge. *sigh* Like most Christians, though, maybe I'm just being hypocritical along with the rest of them, though. >_>;
^_^ but thanks for the support guys and the few suggestions. I appreciate it greatly. I dunno what I'm going to end up doing. I'll keep thinking on it some more.

Well I never want to go through that again. I didn't even know it was possible to hurt like that. I actually started shaking/trembling, which is very bizarre for me. Doesn't help I was nervous.
But! It's done.

So I'm finishing up my part of a group Bio project when another member calls me and says "Yeah, we didn't do anything all week." So, I get to do a poster, finish up my part and it's all due tomorrow. FML.
