I found out my uncle has been transferred to hospice care. They say it's just a matter of time now.

No... nevermind. Mine can wait.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Kino. I'll say a prayer for you and your uncle tonight. I hope it is as painless as possible for him and if you need anything, I hope you know that I am always here to listen if you need someone to talk to.
*hugs*

It's okay. He's lived a very long, full life. I was able to see him last time I flew home for the summer, at his 80th birthday party.
I feel bad for my dad, though, as my uncle Leoman was essentially a second father to him growing up. My dad is 21 years younger than his oldest sister, my aunt Elsie, so she and Leoman were already married when he was born. Their oldest son, my dad's nephew Greg, went to school with my dad and they were even in the same fraternity in college.
I was not especially close to my uncle -- he was already a grandfather by the time I was born and had already been an uncle to a half-dozen of my older cousins, so it wasn't like we had a typical niece-uncle relationship, but he's still a very beloved member of my family.
I got some texts from my mom on Thursday that he had been in the hospital with pneumonia and things had taken a turn for the first -- I found out later that meant his lungs had shut down and he'd gone into congestive heart failure. He's doing better now, but refuses to be put on a respirator, so... it's just a matter of time. I'll be home the first week of April for Easter, the big reunion. I don't know if I'll end up being able to attend the funeral or what I at this point.
My heart goes out to my aunt Elsie. She's devastated, understandably. They've been married over 55 years. And my baby cousins, they're about to lose their grandfather. Little Abigail is only 6.

So sorry to hear that, Kino. I wish your family well. If not for your sake than at least for your father's.

My mom just sent the text. I'm glad he's at peace now.
At least he got to say his goodbyes. My cousin Leslie posted to FB that she got to see him yesterday...

So sorry, Kino. *hugs*
But that's good that everyone got a chance to say farewell and offered a little bit of closure. I'm glad. Your family is in my prayers, Kino.

And his wife, my Aunt Elsie (my dad's sister), is developing Alzheimer's. We knew she was started to show signs, but I guess she's begun pursuing treatment.
*sigh* so sad

Tch, nothing more awful than that.

Hopefully the treatment will slow it down and help her cope.

yeah, Mr Kino and I had a nice, long talk about it. Both his grandmother and my grandmother died from Alzheimer's, and it's something we first bonded over.
I reassured him that, should he start developing dementia like that, I'll figure out a way to end his suffering. I'm fully prepared to lovingly murder my husband if necessary.

^ Naww.
Hmm, no financial support for me. Well, no money. I got support in the form of a peptalk on mind over matter. I'm only held back by my low selfesteem, see? Nothing a leap of faith won't solve. And a scolding for still keeping money in the bank.

In the last three or four weeks, I've had to talk three of my friends down from killing themselves. Everyone is ok but it's been very sad and scary.
I saw my grandma for what might be the last time. She's barely able to speak or move now, let alone remember anything from 15 minutes prior. I'm glad she remembered me this time though.
However, while I was there one of my friends had another breakdown, and I had to give her a suicide hotline number, which ended up not helping her at all....but she's better now
