Not Ireland or South-Africa or Singapore or Hong Kong? I hear they speak English there too.
Then again, if English is your language of choice, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland would be options as well. English is practically a second language here, to the point of foreigners complaining they can hardly learn the local language because everyone keeps speaking English with them.
Your book shop prowess isn't valuable? What about his writing or preaching skills?

South Africa has a ton of crime apparently, and no jobs. So, there's that. My best buddy lived there as a kid.

I'll meet you there. At the very least, it is where I hope to retire.

*takes a deep breathe* Phew! Ok guys! Hopefully you're going to start seeing me a whole lot more.
After WEEKS of coding and designing, I am DONE. ^_^ Yay!
I still have a bit of work to do. I have to upload the information into it and start on my presentation that's in two weeks, but that should not consume my life half as much as racing against the clock to get that damn site finished.
:3 I feel good about it, too. Obviously there are things that I wish I had more time to do. And as I got better at my coding and learning how things work, I wish I had more time to go through and clean some sections up a little more or to just totally rethink how I did something. However, I am very proud of my work and it was an incredibly learning experience and please dear GOD let it lead towards a career in this field. I realized in the process of it all that my GOD I absolutely LOVED doing it.
I mean, I knew I enjoyed it and that I loved doing it, but I was still thinking in terms of "oh maybe it's something I can do while I'm doing my journalism stuff" but... I think I'm actually going to go into this field full throttle. That's how much I absolutely enjoyed it.
Though of course there were times that I was flicking my computer off. :3 Still, these last two weeks, instead of creating huge gaping logic errors my problems were stupid stuff - a typo here or there. And if I created an endless loop it was because I forgot to tell it to move the pointer down for the database or something. It was stupid stuff. *mutters* one damn typo had me scratching my head for three hours. I was CONVINCED something should work but it didn't and no matter what I did it wouldn't work. ^_^ But when I found my typo it was great to realize "OH! I WAS RIGHT! IT SHOULD HAVE WORKED!"
There's still like so MUCH that I don't know :3 and I want to learn. *nods* I'm really glad that I took this degree.
Anyways, when I get the site more polished up and get the materials up, I'll show it off to you guys. I didn't want to post the link to it here because I didn't want outside opinions influence me. I wanted to be sure that my decisions were my own decisions ^_^; so that I could see what I would really create on my own.

Humidity in CA isn't bad at all. The heat however, is a different story.
