It was fun the first time I did it. It was with the book Heaven Cent by Piers Anthony. I was like twelve years old. I was SO sick with a cold and my asthma. I just tried to get through it and having that book and it would get so confusing "what did I just read and what did my brain just make up?"
As I've grown up I've fallen out of the addiction of doing it, but it really was one of the few things that made colds easier for me as I was growing up. I would make a little bed for me on this fold out chair thing that I had and just cuddle with the book. I had my inhaler and my box of tissues beside me ready for use and I just allowed myself to be taken away into that other world where I was no longer Penna with a cold and asthma. I was instead some main character or I was beside them or I was one of the minor characters. <3 It was just always fun.
Seriously, though, reading a Piers Anthony Xanth book is the best one to do it with. Those books are a mind-fuck anyways XD

I have a buddy of mine driving to St. Louis Saturday. He's from Texas and we don't get this kind of weather. Well, fuck?
We're even getting some shitty weather here in central Texas and some minor snowing (mostly flurries nothing "real"). Oh boy.
Smoke breaks outside with this weather make me wish I had real cold weather clothing.
Back from work. It was dead. The roads are a nightmare.
All the interstates and turnpikes and such are closed. They're not even running snowplows in my town -- we probably just have the one, and it's probably stuck in a snowbank somewhere.
Cars keep getting stuck everywhere.
I managed to get my car parked in my carport, which is up on a small slant. This was a major accomplishment. A conquest, really. I tried it once, and got stuck about half-way up the driveway. There was too much snow in the streets for me to park there... so I went inside to see what I could find in the way of a shovel. I found a mop.
I cleared my driveway with a mop.

Victory never tasted so sweet. I literally started screaming for joy when I managed to get my car up into the carport safely. Took me over a dozen tries... I kept having to clear away more snow...
The street and my driveway bear the scars of my battle.
