Yes, host the national Pride event in Winnipeg.
Nothing says "LGBT people are just like you and I" than a parade of obnoxious tools putting in great effort to enforce the stereotypes that the rest of us are trying to abolish. Maybe we can have a "Straight Pride Parade" where women in dresses and cooking aprons can walk while knitting alongside sweatpants-clad men arguing about sports teams and scratching their sack. Feels as if every mile they march pushes away the day that gay marriage can just be marriage.

^ What's it like in Winnipeg, then? Were they all gay Anne Frank a decade ago? Maybe they're frustrated.
I remember when Oak and Ash were dating.

This city has a good LGBT climate. From what I hear, two of our LGBT clubs are some of most popular in the city (with more vanilla attendants than not on some nights), which says a lot because there are a decent number of them. Very little hate, a lot of open exposure. Good resources, but little need for them.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered.
As for why Pride events, I've heard that the straight people need to be reminded that we exist. I'm not sure trotting out the stereotypes is the best way to go about it, but it does get attention.

Somebody is always washing clothes here. So we rarely get to wash any clothes.

I feel the same way about Calgary's March for Jesus parade.
Let's spend tons of church money to show everybody how much happier and better we are than everybody. Look at how perfect we are and you are not! Don't you want to join our exclusive club? We shouldn't use this money to feed homeless people or help people around the globe, we should make everybody see just how stuck up we really are. Yet whenever I say that people get really mad. But the cost of all the advertising and making t-shirts and bullshit they do must be pretty big considering the number of people, and at the end of the day, what did that accomplish? I think from a non-Chirstian standpoint it would make me like Christianity a lot less.
