Sounds to me like they need to back off. My dad made similar mistakes with me. It has cost him.

I can accept my mother far more easily than my dad. her delivery of the message is much softer and I can take it. My dad's like taking a brass-knuckled punch to the gut.

My mom makes a good point, but they refuse to listen. They refuse to admit that them getting mad at my brother gave them ample reason to get mad at other things about the house. They say, "We had this coming" and I say, "Yes, that is one of the underlying causes. Sam was just the spark."

Dad replies with, "I AM THE SPARK." I had to stifle a laugh, but really...

I think lots of parents are over-controlling when their kids reach adulthood. They'll probably get over it once you've been living on your own for a few years.

They say I'm no different than my pothead broter, because I'm "addicted to the internet." Admittedly, I spend a lot more time on it at home than I do at school. Why? Because it lets me block out all the yelling at my brother for his stupidity.

Basically, my mom's been yelling at him for his lack of respect towards women, having sex in the back of his Buick with women he knows on a casual basis, and then leaves it a mess.

I get angry when people yell at me for not acting the way they want me to. How is someone supposed to be grateful for anything, in the process of being yelled at? I'm apologetic, which was half of what they wanted, but my father never believes me. He's never really satisfied with me, and he's all, "Have more confidence, Jake!" And at the same time, shoots down anything I say--or anyone of my siblings for that matter.

My favorite is, "We were never like that at your age." It was 1978, when they were both about my age. It's been 34 years. Being 20 today, is different.


I do hope this dies down, when I do get old enough to move out.

I AM THE SPARK!

My dad did not even remember hm saying that. I even told him that that one sentence sounded incredibly epic. xD I can imagine how much further it'd be taken in an anime, though:

"I AM THE SPARK! I AM HE WHO IGNITES THE NIGHT! I AM THE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS! BLAHBLAHBLAH! ALLY TO GOOD NIGHTMARE TO YOU."

Argh, my mother's videochat is super-loud. My parents are so hard of hearing. I can't think. I'm bored and tired.
