^ More like climbing, though. If you make sure there's space for a cat between things, some cats will avoid knocking things over. Cats are clumsy and absentminded.

I used to be a pro at cat-proofing my apartment. It helped make me into the neat freak I am today.

It's not that cats are clumsy or absentminded. Cats are very graceful. Cats just don't give a damn. And I suspect they like to knock things off, just to see what will happen.

^ Nope, that cats don't care about their own misses doesn't stop them from bumping into things and falling over. They spend most of their grace on quickly getting back on their feet and looking cool.

I've had a cat or two who could open doors, but cats are very foolish.

So, my mom gives me the okay to drop the online course so I can do it over the summer. Then she asks me if there are online courses over the summer. I said, "I am pretty sure there are." Then she keeps pestering me and my confidence got shaken enough for me to not be so sure. Then she flips out on me and gives me the rant about my grades again. I just stand there and take it, and bring up, "You've already told me all this." And my dad chimes in, "And you'll hear it as many times as we have to dish it out."

No, I don't have to hear a message I've already gotten. I got accused of crying, when I wasn't. I just had a massive migrane, because of all the yelling. So, I go and check to see if I was right. I read it to my mom. I read it loud and enuciate every word--she takes it as me reading it to her like she was a retard. That just made it worse. Then she's all, "DISTANCE EDUCATION?" And goes off thinking I'd have to commute. She gets angry at me, becaus e when I decide to not read the things the way I did, she can't understand me. So, I yell at her that words "Distance Education" and "online courses" were in the same sentence. Then I show her. Not that it made anything better.

She goes off blaming everything I do. Gaming, computer, and D&D. I'm keeping D&D, but I will cut back on the other two. She's using my fluke of a Dean's List thing against me. She says its an excuse, but I really did start last semester off on the wrong foot and I wasn't in the mental zone to do anything. I was shaken from the things they had said to me on the ride to school for a good bit and had troubl getting back to things. D&D is not the problem. D&D was what kept me going during both semesters last year. I openly admitted, I spent more time on the computer compared to the previous year and that I plan on changing that. I would love to point out that my mostly calm responses to everything they've been saying to me was because I know what I've got to do. I'm back in the zone.

I do hate that they keep comparing me to them. Honestly, I feel like I'm not gonna be happy regardless of what I do with myself in life. I'm also constantly being compared to my brother, who is a complete fuck up. Like, it's more pressure on me to succeed. Then I come back home and deal with the joke of my younger siblings being "final copies" and my brother and I being "prototypes." It's gotten to the point that I've reminded my mother that there are tropes about prototypes being better than final copies. Really, I'd bring it up, but then it'd devolve into them ranting about my habits being no better than my brother's. I don't do drugs, but I'm "addicted" to the internet. I don't have many friends at school, so the internet is a way to unwind.

That just leads into a rant that my generation no longer knows how to communicate face to face. That may be true, in some regards, but... *sigh* I digress. My parents say I will thank them for this all later. No, I won't. I will thank them for funding my education. I will take care of my parents, when they get old. Will I thank them for being so hard on me in my 20s? For being hypocritical about my passions? "You will get nowhere with writing, Jake!" they told me as a kid. So, I gave up on that and took up history. It's not much better, but now I'm told, "If you have a passion for something, we will support it." Bullshit. If you want to support my passions. Do so when I really started mine--WHEN I WAS 12. It's easy to take advantage of a 12 year old's stupidity. Their parents, if they listen to them, know best. I still write, but not nearly as much as I did when I was 12-13. It's not due to lack of time. It's because by the time I was 14, my parents shot down my dream all together by pretty much going on and on about how bad of a career choice it was. I can still be a writer as a history major, but I don't want to spend my life writing text books or doing journalism.

The cherry on top was my mother laughing at my best friend's goals, when she asked me about them. My friend doesn't want to be an art teacher, so a Master's is kind of a waste of time. She apologized, saying my friend was free to choose her goals, but really... My parents came from humble upbringings and their goal was to give their children the life they couldn't have. Funny how that works. Now, they're bitching, because we take advantage of the better life they gave us.

I might be overreacting a little, but it is getting on my nerves. I'd move out, but I have no confidence in my ability to live on my own, right now.

^ Huh, I guess Drathi doesn't do meltdowns. One time my father nagged too much, I ended up sitting immobile by the table an hour or so with a crushed doughnut in my clenched fist.

Sometimes I wish I had an enormous house just so I could offer a place to stay to my friends in those kinds of situations.

Yes, but would I say that to her face? Not unless I mind having everything I own broken by my father. : /

My absolute favorite thing is my mother saying, "I DIDN'T NEED THE INTERNET. YOU CAN JUST GO TO THE LIBRARY." So much of my arguement is pretty much, "It's 2012. Welcome to the 21st century; we have the internet."

Honestly, if I ever brought up anything, I get talked down and yelled at like an idiot, because I'm only 20 and I can't ever be right to a pair of 50 year olds who have college degrees in something I'm not even arguing with them about.

Well, it doesn't help that I highly doubt they'll support a lifestyle that's not professional or skilled. Why? Because they follow the norm. *rolls eyes* Same parents who said, "You're not everyone," when I said, "BUT EVERYONE HAS IT!" as an arguement to buy me something.

Probably what bugs me most o all is I prefer being at school. I have more time and I enjoy myself there. Either the bitching will end once my brother is gone, or it'll continue into next year. I'm really tired of getting nagged. It's not fair that the High school sophomore is trusted more than me, when it comes to controlling habits. Granted, I do have a tendency to overdo things, but that's because I have absolutely nothing to do, when I'm not working. : / The fact that school is more of a vacation than summer vacation is my least favorite thing about adulthood. It's kinda weird.

Speaking of work, I'm still getting the whole, "YOU DON'T KNOW STRESS" speech from my dad, when I mention being stressed. I know my stress isn't comporable. It's like saying a child in a third-world country has it worse than me. Thanks. Doesn't really solve my problem though. : /
