Nor does any other language.
That's what your brain is for.

Ah. I thought you were making a vague complaint that languages should somehow have the magical ability to tell you if you're trying to apply them to inappropriate problem domains or something.
Regarding your specific type checking issue, I don't consider that a problem per se. It's just a result of the dynamically and weakly typed nature of Javascript, which gives it quite a bit of expressive power. As with any type system, this has its tradeoffs.
Also, C is pretty much THE "traditionally" compiled and statically type-checked language, and when working in C I treat all kinds of things, especially integers, as arrays (of bytes) all the time and it's totes legit. But then C is not very strongly typed either, which brings us to my sense that your problem with Javascript isn't so much that it's not statically typed or compiled in your traditional sense, but rather that its runtime typing is quite loose and coercion-happy.

Yes, but it sounds like C can actually handle integers as arrays. Sorry, I was trying to give the most ridiculous but still succinct illegitimate code use I could think of. If memory serves, C compilers will still tell you when you're missing a closing brace, though, correct? JavaScript won't.
But the real problem was that the JavaScript was calling a Java method whose signature had changed without my co-worker realizing it.

"Ability for all works on the market impaired by at least one quarter"? Hey!
So much cheating.
Edit: My stupid stocks are just losing value. Stupid stocks. Stupid bank.

I have problem at work. It is not anything new, but it was particularly bothersome today. I know, I know... some people in this world would love this kind of attention. Well I don't. Even I am a complete ice queen and make no effort to communicate beyond job function, people are still getting more than cozy. One of them tried to unzip my hoodie again. But, you know, it is kind of -40 outside right now, so generally I will be suited up in thermal wear anyway. You still should not be doing that. ~.~ Thankfully there are not as many younger, deprived, perverted staff these days. Being around too many of them makes me feel uncomfortable.
Yeah, I know, "wah wah". Just ranting.

^ Rant/Complain Thread.
Being ice-queen doesn't work for PLA either.

Oh and eternal procrastination is terrible*, so is having a sleeping habit of a bear**.
*I'll write a longer rant later.
